I wish i had a picture to explain, but im running idle right now on a prescott p4, with hyper threading enables (not sure if it has anything to do with thsi problem). My pc uses 54-58% of the cpu uage when im idle! It has never done it before, first time it has done it since ive got it, its raising my temps pretty bad..... Two of the programs that are causing this is WinIRXhelper.exe CPU USAGE- 50, then there system Idle Process cpu usage-50. When i hit end process for winirxhelper, it doesnt let me hit my start menu bard stuff ect. And it wount even let me end system idle process... This is really worrying me right now, please respond on this forum, or if you could direct me in a situtaion that would help me, add my sn on AIM dirt40fool. This is a pretty bad problem, have no clue what is happining. Should i disable hyper threading, would it lower anything. Please resolve my issue with me. Thanks so much guys!

sounds like the winirxhelper.exe is some form of spyware/virus/trojan. boot into safe mode and find the exe and delete it. its obviously not supposed to be in the system. the system idle process should not be ended.

WinIRXhelper.exe is from MSI media center deluxe software. (first hit on google told me) You can remove it from your startup or uninstall the whole program. I have no clue what it does though it's not vital for your system.

iamnotageek state it's a User choice .exe, as in the user can decide if they want it running or not. If it is affecting your system that much I'd Arnie it (Terminate it) ASAP.

after you have, as G.T. said "Arnied it"
you just clean up your reg and make sure it has not left any mess behind, will slow down your boot time other wise.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Proberly in there. Good Luck

Ow i noticed know one mentioned where you might find the virus, try:

c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder

If you find that file in here never fear and just delete it.

P.S. dont forget to check the reg thing
