Yep, indie is great. Unfortunately I'm a sucker for good graphics and most indie games don't have that.

Unknown worlds does pretty well with graphics with their own custom engine. Torn banner uses Unreal 3 and looks pretty good, could be better though. This is coming from a fellow graphics whore. As much as I like good graphics though, gameplay comes first. Both studios deliver.

Try finding a download for Anno 2070 When you buy a key from anyone other than Ubisoft, I ended up downloading a Russian torrent and then running the update to patch and add my key in. Luckily the language packs are all built in.

Me and 3 friends bought Heroes VI Gold Ed in steam few months ago:
- Not only we need to play it via sluggish steam client, ubisoft also force us to use its uPlay DRM.
- We have serious trouble hooking up with each other in multiplayer.
- Their customer support is so irresponsive, I think it was bot. Steam also wouldn't want to refund it despite the fact we and quite many people can't establish stable multiplayer connection. $104 goes down the drain (minimum wage in my country is only about $220 a month, so $100 is a lot).
- The only possible solution I can find is to use hamachi or something like that, which is the very solution for multiplayer with pirated copy. At this point, the pirated copy is actually better/easier than the legit copy!

so No. No more Ubisoft.

How do you feel about EA?

My problem with EA is they often produce (new or sequel) bad games. Other than that I don't have problem with them. It's not like ubisoft/blizzard/activision/etc always produce better games anyway.

so far the best publisher in my experience is blizzard. Their server connection to my country is rather faster and more responsive than the rest (i.e It's faster to load WoW than to wait steam login, Playing Diablo 3 is more responsive than Left 4 Dead 2, etc), and their customer service is responsive. Recently I bought WoW account for a gift via Battle.Net, which is auto-soulbound to my account. After I send a ticket explaining what happens, in just few hours they ask me If I want a refund. How nice!

I bought Annoy 2070 when it first came out, the DRM on it back then stated if you changed your graphics card more then 3x you no longer could play it.

So yeah, I no longer can play it. Ubisoft can blow me. I am throwing my next $60 at the Witcher 3, a company that actually cares about their consumers.

If i'm honest, much better. All the games from the pre 2011 era did have the activation system, but it wasn't as horrible really and it had de-authorization system. I've reinstalled NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 countless times and i can still do it. And i still have all 5 activation tokens.

Same for Dead Space. I also liked BioShock activation system. Limited on release and fully unlimited later after all the buzz around it went away. You still have to activate it but that's it.

I haven't bought or played any Ubisoft game ever since they introduced their lame always connected system and i clearly don't want their dumb UPlay or whatever it is. Steam and Origin is enough. I don't want some dumb proprietary game client app for every damn publisher or developer... May tray bar is simply not long enough.

It's a Digital River issue rather than Ubi, although it's retarded either way. It's the same way with software you order that is served through Digital River. You can however call them and get a download link that they will send you, although annoying.

Well, they got back to me and said while they could not help me but gave me Ubishop phone number. A very helpful person picked up immediately - turns out all I have to do is install Uplay and like Steam it will download from in there. Downloading at 6.9MB/s is nice But between that and streaming Netflix my internet is a bit slow right now

Heh we all know Steam is way better in these ways (hell in every way) and event though it was clunky as hell and we all hated it at first one of my first positive experiences with it was the opposite of this--you could plug all your years-old Half Life 1 codes in and re-download everything. Scratched or lost disk? No problem!

Clunky ? WE all hated it ?... I hated it over 8 year ago when it was truly buggy how ever i was talking to my next door neighbor about Steam and he hates it or it hates him as he can never get any games to install\download or run or some other issue with it.

And tell ya the truth if it's Origin or uplay steam or what ever they all save your keys. I am just glad i have not come across that crappy deactivation BS for some time.

If i read his message right the 1st time i would of said check on uplay as he had played it before or what ever app (Steam\uplay) he ran the 1st time around.

The games I have bought (legally) and tried to use with Steam (insert the code and download) have not worked at all. I think I've tried with at least 5 or 6 games and NONE of them works. Also they are STILL way more expensive than physical releases. I mean it's good but it's not the God Almighty people say it is.

digital river is a digital distribution service used by different content makers. microsoft used it for awhile, maybe still.

Are these codes that were documented on the Steam website or the game box as working with Steam?

+1 to people overrating Steam, their prices especially, unless the game is on sale (usually).

As annoying as it is, it's quite obvious why a Steam download is usually considerably more expensive than the retail plastic disc version: you pay for the convenience and it also keeps the retailers happy who can now "compete" with Steam, effectively increasing sales for Valve due to bigger market exposure.
