Its not a budget option, you can definitely get cheaper ones. At 500Gb I dont think you will make use of the 4.0 speed anyways.

I bought it for $30 from a discount. Does it have any chronic issues? I couldn't find a review/specs article for it on TechPowerUp.

$30 for this drive is alright. These SanDisk SSDs use the same flash and controller from their Western Digital branded counterparts, I believe this specific model you purchased is a rebranded version of the WD_BLACK SN770 drive. They pretty much have the exact same specifications and ratings, should be pretty reliable. I would say it's a good deal.

Correction, the WD is a rebranded Sandisk.

WD carved itself into 2 operations to make it easier for consumers to figure out what is what

Sandisk now has SSD products while WDC has hard disks, which mostly are sold to corporations

You just did buy an SN770X, for that price i would have buy 2 of them, good bargain i would say, they are really worthy tier money.

And yes you just did buy an WD, Sandisk is now owned by WD.
