Gettin paid and got no bills in sight. Getting the 1000Watt Modular Corsair unit (almost maxin 460Watts of CoolerMaster power right now) and two 320GB (single platters, baby) WD drives for RAID0 (using a single 320GB PATA right now). Beware of excessive hardware masturbation coming from me over the next two weeks :)

Sounds like some sweet upgrades. 1000w might be a little overkill though unless you plan on doing tri-sli. May I recommend the corsair 750w or 850w. Would save you over $100.

hey chillout atlec, he was just kidding around.

excellent choice on the PS, but BrooksyX has a point.

Use the extra $100 for lube and a blow up doll..

It is WAY overkill, but I must have modular cables and unfortunately Corsair jumps from the 620 to the 1000 on the modular models.

Looking at your specs, you dont need more than 600 watts though

You serious? See my thing is I plan on running dual 9800GTX+ or GTX200 series by the time Modern Warfare 2 comes out, so I was thinking that the 620 might be pushing it if I do that.

It would be fine if you plan on keeping that c2d. Also the Xigmatek 750 Wat is a nice PSU.

Dude. Just don't bother with a modular PSU. Go for a Corsair TX series. Kick ass I say the least. I am using a TX650W and it pwnts everything that I have and it is really good for just about anything. :D

I have the same Corsair now and it is nice. But not being modular drove me nuts. I was and am still using the Ultra X3 600W (its in another machine) I pulled and it was running 2 X1950XTXs in Crossfire with two 74GB WD Raptors, E6750 OCd to 3.8 with no issues. And it is Modular. Holding the X3 Ultra and Corsair in my hands the X3 is a nicer unit all around. Finish is awesome, Modular, and is heavier. As Johnny Guru says a heavier unit generally is better, not taking into consideration exactly whats inside. I'm no expert but either of the 2 would run your system. IMHO

I've been thinking of going with an Ultra. I know they are high quality components, and I have been buying everything at CompUSA instead of online lately. The guy at CompUSA referred to the Ultras as their 'in-house' brand. I dunno what that means, but I trust Tiger Direct and I've seen reviews that say the Ultras are high quality parts. You make me want to go for an Ultra PSU instead of a Corsair. Dammit, now I have to think...

Ultra's are nice~but I do not think they are the best. I would personally choose the Corsair or an ABS Tagan :toast:

I would never equate "Ultra" with high quality. They may have a couple of ok PSs but they have made a lot more junk ones.

Anyone that says Ultra is better than a Corsair is fooling you.

Careful with reviews, just because someone says a PS is quality dosent always make it so. A good example is there is this Guru guy that said the Ultra 500 was an excellent PS, at the time they were like $9 and some were even free after rebates. Me and a few others here at TPU a bunch of them, over half were DOA. Only 1 of them worked (I used it in my Ultra case mod), it died shortly after and I began to mod PSs as there were so many bad ones. I took picts of the inside showing the poor soldering joints and on the 6 pin power plug for the GPUs all 3 of the yellow wires (12V) were soldered to a single wire on the circuit board.

Alright, thanks for your input guys. I am gonna go with the 620 (sticking to modular) for now.
