basically when he pushes down the reset cmos button, the button(being metal) comes down and connected 2 wires/pin, completing the circuit and causing the cmos to get cleared, similiar to using a jumper to bridge the 2 pins together.

Ok , now I see.. It's directly on the board. I have a pair of PC speakers with the same type of switch. It was "on" all the time. So I removed the "power-on" button and opened it to see what's inside. Follow this link, and you will see:

Ben, did you double check the power connector on the mobo?
Sometimes only one pin of the connector is needed to give power.

Also if you plugged it to the wrong pin it will not boot either as you know probably.
Sometimes it's a pain finding the right one.

I have no idea. It says WP_EN, and isn't mentioned in the manual. I tried it in the different position, no change. And I can't find the Chassis Intrusion jumper either.

There's no need, there's a button to power it up on the board itself. And when I connected it, same thing happened.

I think you've tried everything ben,it all seems to be connected correctly,so no amount of horse flogging is gonna make it work it seems.Unfortunatly,it does seem like the board is doa.

Ordered the others from OCUK, this is from ebuyer. And no difference with other slot.

How do I disable the write protect? Is it the WP_EN jumper?

^yeah just move the jumper from 1-2 to 2-3.

Just to remind you.....to reset a BIOS you have to move the BIOS reset jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 for just about 10 seconds and then back to its original position.

How long is the period in which you can replace this for a new one in case you RMA it? If it's something like 30 days, just keep it aside, after Ketxxx returns, take his advice, he's a champ with faulty boards....if it still stays this way, RMA it. You can't take so much BS. I feel bad for you...four DOA boards in a row is very discouraging indeed.

It looks like its already disabled.the other (2-3) position seems to be to ENABLE it.
