So, I've got a user who has been running 2 27" HP monitors (Z27s), and doing fine. He has a 59" TV that he wanted to hook up on his wall, and display his NVR cameras, as well as presentations when he has people in his office. So, I moved him to a 2Gb card with DVI/DP/HDMI outputs, and everything worked fine: until I brought up the video software, moved it to the TV, and things went to a crawl.

With the webpage interface, the refresh rate is awful, and the machine slows to a crawl. With the specific software we use (NVMS7000), it will only show 5 of the 13 cameras. I can easily swap between the cameras working and "not working", and they refresh fine, but only in 5 spots. The other 8 spots only show a distorted backgound, or a non-refreshing view of the camera scene.

He's running 1920x1080, with the 2 monitors and the 59" TV. Where do I need to be looking to drive this setup with something resembling reliability and speed? Thanks for the input

i guess start from the first, the software and try to test it by using 1 monitor first

Yeah, actually, we're getting ready to move the user to a brand new computer before year's end, and I'm still not sure what we're going to do for him. To answer you, @micropage7 , The software runs fine on a single monitor, or even the double monitors. But add in the need to refresh it on the TV screen, and it goes downhill. What I was able to do to make it at least passable to use, was to change all the cameras to use the "Sub Stream" for all feeds. It still records in high resolution, but uses a lot less bandwidth, and apparently at least, a lot less refresh power, to draw the substreams on the TV. The software still sucks, and using the web interface means he needs to re-assign each camera to a "spot" each time, but at least he can watch all of them on the TV.

I think I'll get him into a more serious video card this time around, something like a last 2-year's gamer model with 4Gb, and see how that handles.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
You and the OP know each other???

I also dont see another thread here. His last thread started was in july to which he never even replied to after starting the thread....

What kind of bandwidth is the harddrive showing during said slow downs? If no issues there then how much system Ram is being used during said slow downs? And lastly and most unlikely how much Vram is being used during said slow downs?

I also dont see another thread here. His last thread started was in july to which he never even replied to after starting the thread....

I started a thread (which he quotes in the OP ^), back in April, and never received any response from anyone. I just happened to spot (t)his thread this morning checking the site, and wanted to respond with what I had learned. I'm not sure about quanghieu's situation, but my client is a bit high maintenance, and it's hard sometimes to get him clear of his computer. Also, since he's at the other end of the county from me, it's a bit hard to set time to get down there and do some testing that may or may not be productive. I've got him working "ok" right now, but will need to re-eval shortly.

I guess the prime question for both the OP and me, is "How much video card is needed to run streaming camera feeds (16 of them) to a 60"-ish TV, via HDMI, and still maintain two additional 27" screens on his desk?"

Cards that can handle as many screens as possible with some grunt behind it. Might need 2 cards unless if 1 professional card can handle it, look for surveillance video cards for pc even, hope this helps

Yeah, as much as I dislike the name, I'm looking at the Matrox line of multi-monitor cards to see if I can get feedback from their group.
