While I prefer APC, I note Amazon is have a really nice CyberMonday sale today on this CyberPower worth considering.

+1 to Cyberpower, I run both an APC (my gaming rig) and Cyberpower (my home server) personally, and sell both brands professionally. Well until recently, we dropped APC from our consumer-grade UPS list and I'm working with Schneider-Electric (owns APC) on some quality concern issues with their Back UPS range that caused us to go with CyberPower over APC in that price-range...the consumer price-range which usually covers 1500VA and lower rated units.

you should look for at least 1000VA UPS, i always recommend APC or TrippLite ones, but 1st place for APC, Pro BackUp, i have one running for like 4 years, battery is rated for 5 years single use, and i know some devices that have been running for moar than 7 years without a battery replace, also batteries are pretty affordable and tool-less replaceable, pretty solid units,

They are easy to find, amazon, ebay, craig almost everywhere, and so are the stores, you could visit microcenter, best buy, pccentral almost everywhere, and its pretty important to protect your valuable hardware!

Nice but not necessary. That is really just a marketing buzzword. Any decent power supply can easily deal with approximated sinewaves - I mean they have for the last 25 years with no problems - no reason to believe the much more reliable and robust power supplies of today can't either.

The only devices that "need" a pure sinewave UPS are critical medical health monitoring and life support systems.

The only reason pure sinewave is getting any attention today is simply because pure sinewave UPS devices have FINALLY become affordable.

+1 for APC, have a Back-UPS 1500 in service for 5 years now and a Back-UPS 1000 in service for a year and both have had no issues.

+1 to Tripplite and APC. Have both myself, my little folder is on the big Tripplite (main rig draws to much to be put on that 1500VA), and have a smaller APC one that handles my parents' sound system and TV since brown outs and power outage occurs about several times throughout the month.

have have a pair of apc RS1500's that I've had for 10 years now. i did have to replace the batteries after 7 years ( cheap and easy). but other than that they've been running like champs.

i was going to say that price seems steep but there's apparently a huge markup on ups in Europe (I'm not sure why that surprises me anymore).

This is true. My TrippLite I use uses an approximated "three-step" sine wave (which you'd think would be bad) and every power supply I have tried works with it. PC Power Supplier really don't care anymore as long as it isn't blatant square wave, and even then, they seldom care.

This is what I use, it's good other than the fact it's monitoring USB interface is really quirky, so don't rely on that. Unfortunately it does not appear to be on sale.

I'm a fan of refurbished APC Smart-UPS with decent batteries inside, usually end up with high-rate with fire retard or something of that sort
