Ok I'm gonna bite the bullet and upgrade.......or at least pester my wife. What should I do here?! I have 24 hours to decide.

1. Get a new GPU (means wait until the 69xx) is released.
2. Buy an SSD. There is a 120 on the egg for 200 bones.

Haha. I've reinstalled BFBC2 btw, so i'll come back on sometime :)

As for this thread. It depends. I went to an SSD from a WD Black and i wouldn't go back. I also went to a HD5850 to from a HD4870 and wouldn't go back.

The biggest jump was the GPU, but the most worthwhile was the SSD.

It really depends on your uses and needs. I wanted a faster desktop as i play less games... so an SSD was more important than moving from a 5850 to something higher.

Hope that helps.

If you've already got a 5850, I say go for the SSD. Unless you play games at 2560x1600, that 5850 is a great card and should plow through most any game available today. I've got a Vertex 2 SSD 120GB and it does a great job. One of the best features is that it's totally silent. I love not having to hear the clicking and whirring of my Western Digital Cavair Black all the time! What SSD are you conisidering?

Well it really depends on what your goal is. If you're not satisfied with the HD 5850 then wait and upgrade to the 69xx series. If you're satisfied with your HD 5850 then buy the SSD.

Personally I don't upgrade components that are adjacent generations. I usually upgrade every other generation so as to get the most bang for buck. Add this to the fact that you don't list an SSD in your system specs and I therefore say SSD.

Also, go blow yourself you geriatric philistine.

Besides hating you :D I think you should get a GTX 580, but only when the 69xx comes out as it will be cheaper.

You need to get this card, because it's the one that I'm lusting after and I'll be insanely jealous.

An SSD for the O.S. makes wonders in overall usability.

IMO, the HD5850 is good for another semester or so. Maybe in a couple of months you'll find a dirt cheap, used HD5850 and do crossfire.

Oh and I hate you. Good thing you allowed multi-voting, I could vote for both the SSD and hating you.
Just so you know.
