I need some help . I hate this carp not knowing any thing about WiFi and being forced to use it as well it is better than paying for internet service and I live in RV parks ! I hate the in and out in and out of the internet that this is giving me and just want to know is there any thing better than the one I payed $50 bucks for . Netgear N300 USB is what I have now . any thing out there going to be better ? Longer range perhaps ? Any thing you can tell me would be great thank you all for your help . :respect:

you think your router is dropping your internet connect? or could it be something else?

I am not sure I keep having to go into the control panel and fix the thing . It doesn't seem to have any real good range . Some times I get 3 bars other times 2 and then it can have 3 bars and a tildy that is when I have to fix it . :confused:

ok i just looked up what you have and i see it is a wireless n/g usb adapter that you plug into your PC.

so it could either be your adapter or your router. is your router wireless g or n ?

Well that is the thing it is the RV parks Router they have a big antenna out side I can see it from my RV window and it is not more than 100 feet away ! so I would not know what they are using but this setup seems to be in and out even now .

ahh, that makes more sense. 100 feet is a long ways even with not much blocking the signal. i would suggest buying a high powered wifi antenna that is USB that you can hook right up to your PC for easy install.

not off the top of my head. try googling for a usb powered wifi antenna and see what you come up with.

cantennas work great if you have line of sight.


personally i use these, which have good range (likely on par with what you have) - but with a USB extension cord and a better aerial, you can locate them in the perfect spot for better signal. In my case, thats right on the window sill.
