The chip's package is damaged but if haven't noticed anything wrong it might just be that the die is fine.

so , is still working under that... it got only fried ... maybe cause of high temp .... or what?

is there any way to replace this or is too hard to do ? maybe is it in double lane.... what would you suggest to do? my warranty is ended 1 years ago :/

Hope the card will not die....

The package is just the die cover and it seems that's the only thing that got damaged since you haven't noticed any issue.

You could try to get a replacement chip but I don't know what it is. It's marked with an "U" so it must be a specialized IC.

RMA the card if possible? If not run it until it dies, there is nothing you can do now.

If it has been working I wouldn't mess with it. Don't rma it either, that's grounds for voiding. What is on it, the pads on it look brown too?

Are you insane? There is a friggin' hole in the driver IC, which is a perfect reason to send it back to manufacturer for repair or replacement.

It is a hole in the IC. It happens when internal circuitry shorts out and the package "explodes" from the inside from overheating.

If you still have a warranty coverage RMA it.... my thinking behind that suggestion is that it's better to RMA it now then wait until it dies and find out your warranty has expired. If you're not covered with your warranty any longer leave it alone, and by leave it alone I mean don't try to repair it. Unless of course you have experience in the video card manufacturing process

It's not like standard electronic repair or changing your own tires you stand to lose a working GPU and stand to gain nothing aside from aesthetics since by your own admission there is nothing wrong with its function

Calm down, geeze. I can't tell what it looks but it doesn't look like typical fried parts.

Looks exactly like OP, except it was the 1st phase blown (hence GPU not working).

I'm not sure about the "typical looks of fried parts", because there are many types of parts and many circumstances under which it may be called "fried". Some may not show any visual signs of damage.

Either the driver has been damaged and is still functional or more likely the PWM buck controller disabled the phase once it detected a fault to prevent further damage. You would need to probe it with a multimeter to know for sure if it's still functioning.

A local electronics repair shop would make short work of replacing the component if you have a replacement with you, 5-10min job tops.

IR3567B will shut down a phase from what I have read, but as it does load balancing across the VRM phases it will mean the other phases will have to work harder.

Hiii , I miss this topic .. sorry for not reply ..

I would say thanks to everyone who reply expecially @silentbogo .. for identify the chip...

My warranty ended 1 years ago XD I got this card in jan 2014 ... so nearly 3 years of pure amd power!... ... btw . , Im gonna buy the IC silentbogo linked, then I'll take the gpu to local If they can do something...

@gupsterg according to you , the gpu can still working if I get that ic not working , i'll just lose an phases ? ? so I could not take care of it ??

If you don't bring it to repair you're basically taking chances in a risky game. But because the warranty is over I'd say it's not important anyway. Your money your decision.

with any luck that I have, I dont want to risky that the technician can do bad thing with solder and break my card .. so Is better to wait it die o take and change that ic ^?........ Im planning on upgrading on navi...lol this card is still too much for me even for doom maxed out I get 140fps for avg. of 100fps.... I have slighty oced it , never do some azot game or something like +300mv 99+°C.... temp never reached 80+° in all of his time, and I never changed thermal paste stil going good..I still thinking that maybe its more than lots of month Im going with that ic fried

Me personally I would take the chance because I don't think it will break and I don't care if it breaks. But I don't know in which situation you are so you must know if you're willing to take that risk.

Hmmm i recall my GTX 480 blowing a resistor near that chip... it was due to volt modding.... not heat it was just too much under air even though it was kept within normal heat ranges, needs LN2. Obviously why it was called an LN2 bios LMAO.

a resistor is too hard to change :/

You cant measure that..... if it fried...

btw, I have decided, I'll wait until it die, ... if die I' ll take at some technician for changing the ic....

Yes.

Just be aware what happens is the other phases will be loaded more. For example, say the GPU uses 200A and you have 5 phases, due to load balancing it will mean 40A a phase. Now if 1 phase is bad and shut off then it's 200A/4 = 50A , this will mean extra loading on the components.

I would still consider RMA if you have warranty.

Reading this I think now repair is the better option if it's cheap.

I know of a member on OCN who was doing a capacitor mod on Fury Strix. The Fury Strix has 12 phases to GPU, as the IR3567B is only 6+2 output the 12 GPU phases are running doubled off the 6 phases output PWM. When he "fluffed" up the capacitor mod on a phase it would have taken out 2 of the phases due to the doubling. Even though he still had 10 phases going to GPU a few days later the card went pop :( .

Luckily he was able to make the PCB back to stock and Asus never cotton on what had happened, they replaced the GPU FOC.

If the card dies, you'll spend more time trying to figure out what went boom than having that ic replaced. It's your money, since its out of warranty, id try to get the ic fixed otherwise start saving for a 480 GTR from XFX or a Sapphire Nitro 480
