I sent a broken cpu to AMD for RMA and the package tracker says that it arrived at it's destination, but I haven't got any email from AMD yet.

Unless their policy changed, it seems like you should get an email confirming they received it. It has been awhile but last time we sent one back, IIRC, we got an email with 24 hours after the package tracker notice said it has arrived at its destination. Then, as Mr. Scott noted, it took a good week before they sent another saying it had been tested and they confirmed it was bad and would be replaced. Then about 5 business days before the replacement was shipped, and then a couple days before we actually got the replacement.

Yes intel kinda works the same way, they will have to test first to know for sure its a legit RMA.
When it has been trough the tests you get a confimation on the result.
If it takes too long before getting an answer, send an email to ask what is wrong.

No clue really, I've had times where I've updates the next day after they've taken receipt and others the day after a replacement has been shipped.

LOL.

That confirms my suspicion that telling them I was investigating their issue with the Linux performance marginality as a "member of a technology site" was a mistake. Mine was overnighted to me and recieved nearly immediately. I told them to "please not treat me differently, as I want a normal customer experience to report on" but I guess saying that was weak vs just acting like any other customer lol.

I wonder if they ever figured out that article never happened because I quit a week later?

Reviewer get very often everything a customer never gets, if i as customer send a defect and crappy oc'ing cpu to intel i get a crappy oc'ing cpu back.
When i contact one of the factories for broken or malfunctioning motherboards they never send me a replacement they simply say go to the shop and wait till we replace it in the coming months.
Hell they even send back the flawed motherboards several times (asus, msi, gigabyte) i had an issue with my asrock board and they did not even asnwer my emails at all.
If your one of those reviewers they send you the best of the best part they have in the house to make sure you make a super review about their products.
And worse is these reviewers never have to send it back either, most of those so called reviewers get all their toys for nothing.
I have worked with one and he got all his stuff totally free from these factories, that is for me buying the reviewers out.
Who sends the most nice gifts gets the best review in every case, those saying its not true should shut up because its their business model.
Look have rich they all became in often a pretty short time, so rich that they constant travel over the planet to shop and go to shows.
And the most funny about it they brag about it as well.
So i never accept their opinion about anything, i wait till several people have bought the products themselfs and see with my own eyes, if a certain product is good of not.
But i really wish i could get a total new brand product, because we are locked again at only 3 companies because eveyone knows asrock is another sub brand from asus
And aorus is the new top brand from gigabyte, so they can make gigabyte the cheap product line

Due to the C-Virus many post companies are overloaded as flights amounts are reduced leaving only the priority stuff working. I experience some spare part problems even from EU located sites too. There are some secret additional precautions and procedures that slows everything down.

Seconds often the tracker simply lies. It is still in the post company office.

Hmm that is true i often get even with the local mail that the product was send but often it was not even collected at all.
Some sended me a receive mail as well while it was not delivered at all as well.
Funny enough some senders in the EU do not even have support delivery confirmation at all for international packages.
Tracking is almost impossible unless you take the most expenssive brands on the planet.

Unfortunately, yes, that seems true.

The CPU I got was a golden clocker too, I think @Norton has it now.

Funny enough some senders in the EU do not even have support delivery confirmation at all for international packages.

The old EU countries suffer from it... because they simply can't read English... Not that I am asking to be obligated to do such thing, but if you do business, the heck - get some basic knowledge. I almost have to kick some country specimens to put a phone number as a mandatory thing.

We don't do notifications in paper form letters mostly, that the postmen/women must carry around, it is stupid, everything is tied to a phone number within the postal system. Thus everything works faster... the I can see how large is the queue and service time in my local postal offices using an app, or already take the ticket even before I arrive. If something is lost or tracking stops, each step is traceable fast and post office info responds pretty fast. So you can ask not only AMD, but the post service too, not only rely on the online tracker.

There are problems with more reputable and expensive services, like DHL often. They make often so many human mistakes... parcels sent to wrong planes then it goes crazy around everywhere, so sometimes the most expensive service ain't that good. But mistakes do happen... the parcel could be given to a wrong person. We have such cases with DHL/TNT/FEDEX very often.

Yeah, I must've missed this part of your post... and the money bus, too. Reviewing isn't a money bandwagon unless you are very, very good at it and even then, it becomes basically a fulltime job so it better have some benefits.

Reviewing isn't a money bandwagon unless you are very, very good at it
It's not, period. To do a proper review, it can take many hours or even days. To become rich, you would have to constantly be reviewing something and getting paid big bucks to do it.

Of course everybody's definition of "rich" is probably different but I would have to earn a lot more than $80/hour, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year to consider myself "rich" - especially after paying taxes, the mortgage/taxes/insurance on my house, monthly utilities (gas, electric, water, Internet, phones), health insurance premiums, prescriptions, and food. Then there are the fuel and insurance costs for my truck (and it's 10 years old). And that's just for me. If I still had kids under my roof, my expenses would be considerably higher. And that did not even count beer money!

To review a power supply, for example, you need a facility, a good oscilloscope and power supply analyzer. You need the technical training - all that takes money. If reviewing TVs, that would take different test equipment and training. If reviewing software, different hardware and training.

If the reviewer is getting rich off those reviews, I would not trust the reviews to be unbiased, complete, or honest.

If your one of those reviewers they send you the best of the best part they have in the house to make sure you make a super review about their products.
Then are those truly "proper" reviews? Even if the reviewers and sites are sincere, honest, and properly trained and equipped - as I am sure they are here at TPU for example, there is always the chance that review sample sent from the manufacturer has been optimally tweaked to score good. Regardless, I am sure the reviewers are NOT getting rich from doing those reviews.

Look at how Consumers Reports does reviews, for example. First, they send "secret shoppers" out to Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, etc. and they buy several (not just one) samples off the shelf just as you or I would do. This ensures they are not getting "cherry picked" samples from the manufacturer. The greater the number of samples to test, the more accurate the findings.

They have highly trained engineers and technicians in fully equipment labs and testing facilities who not only test the products, but they compare them with competing products. They accept no advertising money from any manufacturer to ensure they are not being influenced, and that there is not even the appearance of any influence in their ratings.

Plus, they revisit the product after a year or two to see how it has held up after extended use to get a good picture of its reliability.

Also, they survey 100s of 1000s of subscribers of their reports to see how "normal people" like the products after a couple year's use - if there have been any breakdowns, and if so, how did the repair go?

Now those are proper reviews - or at least as about as proper as you can get.
