Thanks for checking. Nearest one to me is about 30 min away. I don't have a problem buying online if there's someplace nearby to return. I might go with Microcenter, they have a kickass return policy and the price is good and cheaper to ship because of taxes in MA. If I do need to return it, don't mind an excuse to go there in Cambridge.

I don't trust LG. personal experience with a DVD drive that wouldn't write with the default OS writer. People complaining of uneven backlight and other annoyances.

I have taken to many LG monitors apart to find really cheap power supply's in them and missing pads for cooling the inverter(s) and such.

Here's one from last week, cost of repair was way more than the units worth and would of been avoided if proper cooling was there, only one of the inverters was actually cooled which clearly wasn't enough either.

Don't remember, monitor was a 1080p panel about 5 years old, similar to some Phillips\BenQ boards.

Just personal opinion here, I always go AOC, either for TV or monitor. I've got a 29" ultra wide non-curve and it was the best purchase I made in years. Hope it lasts

I recently bought an LG 34" 34UM64-P Flatscreen from Newegg for 350 bucks. That was the price shipped to my home.
It's a 1080P screen, 21:9 Ultrawide.
I haven't hooked it up yet. I will once I get my i9-7900X system built.

Just make sure the manufacturer considers Amazon an authorized dealer, otherwise you might not get a warranty. Amazon often undercut prices of everyone else on certain electronics, like Pioneer receivers, which is why they aren't on Pioneer's authorized dealer list anymore.

Also be wary of the product details and return options, whether buying from one of their sub vendors or Amazon themselves, especially during the holiday rush.

I just saw the popular Sony UBP-X800 Blu-ray player on Amazon for $150, which is normally $250 at all authorized dealers, and the product page had no info on whether it was new or refurbished, or if it had full warranty.

I also just recently bought a cable modem straight from Arris in Colorado, even though they for some odd reason charged sales tax, despite it shipping from a warehouse that also was not in my state. It was either that or pay a couple bucks less at Amazon, but Amazon wasn't even sure what the return policy was.

t least that on one according to Newegg has a 3 year warranty not some lame 1 year which the LG 34UC80-B has.

Another thing LG at least used to do were parts would be 1 year and laber 3 years or visa versa.

I have an LG Ultrawide curved monitor and love it, albeit is only 29 inch, would not go back to a standard monitor ever never now but to be fair I don't play a lot of games. It's 2 years old and still looks stunning!

LG have also been known to put customers through a panel lottery on some of their displays. Meaning you don't know if you're going to get an IPS panel or VA. Usually it's TVs, but I would not trust any of their monitors to be the panel type the specs list after seeing them do such things.

Actually, that monitor has a max refresh rate of 60Hz, while the model I ordered is 75Hz... they both have GTG response times of 5ms

5ms IPS is one I would avoid. Get the ones that say 4ms and its usually a safe bet you have a much better panel in every respect.

Back when Dell had its proper CCFL IPS, 5ms (or slower) was the norm, today its a sign of a slow IPS built for static imagery/office use, and the cheap ones are not great quality.

Another thing is the curve, the warped geometry is really a thing, have recently looked at it myself and yeah, not sure whether its a good thing, even for majority of use being gaming. I can also imagine though, as most things in a monitor work, that it'll grow on you and work just fine in the end.

Never seen this happen in monitors. The only time VAs show up in IPS is when Asus, Acer and others advertise their AH-VA from AUO as being IPS panels.

Good luck if some games don't support 21:9 .

No luck needed. It will display those games just fine in 16:9. The only difference is black will fill the sides for the area the game doesn't support.

Some games also 'just stretch' to fill your screen. Especially older ones, and pixel mess will be your game.

Most emulators can handle it though - play windowed

Most monitors have options to adjust input signal

LG either through OSD or the addition software if you don't like using the monitor buttons. Input > Aspect Ratio (Full Wide, Original, etc..)

From the manual.
Wide - Displays the video in widescreen, regardless of the video signal input.
Original - Displays video according to the aspect ratio of the video signal input.
Cinema1 - Enlarges the screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9. (at 1080p)
Cinema2 - Enlarges the screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9, including the black box at the bottom for subtitles. (at 1080p)
1:1 - The aspect ratio is not adjusted from the original

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Buuuuut, if a game doesn't support the res, it doesn't matter what the monitor will do, right? Of it doesn't have the pixels it has to make/stretch them. Which is where the distortion comes from.

I know it's a couple of clicks, but, I just want to play the game, not have to use my OSD or some software because of an odd res... maybe I'm lazy. :p

You can leave it on Original or 1:1. Once the signal switches it will flip back and forth (Windows at 21:9, Game at 16:9) with no distortions.

I need to take more time to correct my grammar when typing on the phone... haha!!!

So without distortion means, black bars? Ick.
