This is the longest (that I can remember) between nVidia driver releases. It's been 1 1/2 months since nVidia released the ground-breaking 337.50 betas. I think the next drivers are going to be something wonderful.

I agree they are putting a lot of effort into these and I am eager to see what they come up with, but I wouldn't expect a ton more than mantle-style improvements (basically helping CPU-bound systems).

Still, that's not a bad thing... my CPU is still pretty good though, hehe.

I imagine it's just an SLI driver for the unlocked chip and a bunch of quirky fan profiles to deal with the heat and boost. It's taking so long because they're trying to make wine out of water. They have to justify $3000 over $1500 with the same or less performance. I'd take my time too if I were them, but I think they may as well give up the go on this one and accept defeat graciously.

Hopefully my old 780 will benefit though

I don't think nVidia was expecting AMD to liquid cool the 295X2, it caught them off guard. They shouldn't be trying to tweak the drivers to get the extra performance, they should probably be tweaking the hardware and adding a liquid cooler and shrink the card back down to 2 slots(plus that adds some room for driver improvement later).

Though liquid cooling adds its own set of problems, and I'm not exactly a fan of that trend of the top end cards requiring liquid cooling just to run stock. I'm of the opinion that if the card can't run reference speeds with a two slot air cooler, they shouldn't be releasing it.

Fair enough but many are of the opposite opinion that a 1500-3000$ card Should be a bit more special when you could buy the two gpus at a third to a sixth of the price with more actual hardware attached.
as for the next driver being great, let's hope so though it would not matter to my fermi owning ass I think.

I agree that the Titan Z needs far more than driver tweaks if the $3,000 retail price holds true. As you suggested, some hardware changes would offer better results. I doubt that Huang will go that route though as he has already said in an interview that the talk of the Titan Z being delayed is silliness. To come out with a redesigned Titan Z would just make him look bad.
