I thought prices of AMD Ryzen was going down not up?

So I noticed this just last weekend when I was looking at PC parts, I looked at what the AMD Ryzen 2700x was selling for as I heard there was a price cut but to my surprise the prices actually went up! Everywhere I looked when I bought my 2700X only a few months back was at a consistent $469 Australian, now at the same store its now priced at $515.....and also at alot of other stores at online retailers in Australia. Im a bit confused by that. I cant recall about other lower end Ryzen CPU's if they have gone up as well, I think the 2700 non X might have gone a bit. Thoughts?

Well looking at the PCPP pricing graphs, you look to be correct, though the Aussie dollar is also dropping as well, so it costs more thanks to that as well.

My guess would be it's supply issues in Australia causing price hike.

In Croatia (where computer components are regularly 30-50% more expensive than in the US), Ryzen 2700X goes for ~410 USD at the moment

Also here in Romania added 50E or more in some online stores,350E for 2700x

maybe it's the intel supply issue and stores are taking advantage of it with AMD CPU's ?

As in someone looking to build new PC they know Intel have supply issue so they decide to buy AMD thinking it's going to be cheaper as a bonus, store thinks OK i can sneakly make a few extra bucks out of this issue.

its not sneaky just the way things work.. but i think you are right.. if intel prices go up amd prices will follow..

It's most likely a diminishing supply.
Almost all of my local retailers are pretty much out of 2nd gen Ryzen, and R7 2700 and 2700x went up to nearly $400 (USD). Meanwhile 1st gen is still selling at discounted prices and is mostly in stock.
