Building a new budget system, budget in terms of

    I'm buying a Phenom ii x6 1055t instead of the 1100t

The corsair H50 instead of the H70

    Buying 2x 6870s, instead of two 6950s

So you get my drift when I say budget, not awful, but not record breaking

    So the rig is...
    Raidmax Helios case
    ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3
    Phenom iix6 1055t
    Corsair H50
    2x XFX 6870s
    4gb DDR3 G.skill
    Ultra 750w PSU
    Asus Optical drive

So here's my question, trying to cut corners here, is it not advisable to use my current HDD w/ windows 7, or should I buy a completely brand new HDD and new copy of windows?

Pretty much saying, would it damage my system if I use the same HDD on the new motherboard?

    Thanks in advance

Old hard drive will be fine, just re-format it and install Windows 7 fresh. You can re-use the same copy of Windows you have installed now, just re-install it so it is fresh, you don't need to buy a new copy.

Also, I'd just get a single HD6950 for now, and upgrade later when you have a more money saved up. Going with two HD6870s right now cripples your upgrade potential and a single HD6950 is more than enough.

The old HDD won't damage your new system. So sure go ahead and use it.
