I7 12700f / B660 terrible performance under Manual voltage

Hello,

I just buy an asus B660i Strix with i7 12700f.

Asus performance enhancement 3.0 enable or disable= Same issue ..

Explain :

Automatic settings make the cpu frequency near 4.5ghz at all P-Core but vcore is Hight... (almost 22000 scores in R23)

Then i go to bios -} option : "vrm core voltage" and set it to Manuel or Offset, with my choose.

Cpu-z report the correct voltage that i set in bios but when i run Cinebench r23 the score ... Awfull near 6000 points.

In conclusion, Once i play with voltage settings inside bios, the performance is terrible...

If you have any informations i will be happy..

Thanks

Once you change the voltage you're disabling boost, if you do that you also need to set a multiplier for the CPU to lock it's speed in

Thank you !

It mean that for exemple , need to set in bios "45" to all p-core ?
As an example, sure.

I've got no specific settings for you to try, as I have no firsthand experience with 12th gen intels - just make sure you know how to clear your CMOS and get the system working since you seem new to this.

B series isnt really designed for overclocking. Your cpu multiplier is locked to the highest turbo. Only way to go above is to BLCK overclock. This can cause a whole of stability issues. Just depends on your comfort level in troubleshooting.

I may be wrong but I thought using offset voltage does not disable the turbo. I didnt think manual did either. But I only change cpu voltage when I manual overclock anyways. Maybe its motherboard BIOS dependent?

Robin, set your MBO settings at default and save it. Use this Intel Extreme Tuning Utility https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html

You can undervolt CPU with CORE Voltage offset : -0.074 without loosing TB. Apply settings.

Are you trying to overclock or just lower the voltage? Without a unlocked multi, BCLK is the only option here.

Thanks to alll again !! I think i solve my problem..

Before to explain, I try Extreme Tuning Utiliy and yes, not lauch, non k cpu.. I only Try to undervolt not overclock, cause i have an Dan Case A4

...

To explain, during 3 past years, i was runing an i7 8086 with Z370i, where the undervolt was easy... Lower the vcore, and test the stability.

It seem that in the Intel 12th gen cpu bring new option ?? PL1 PL2

To undervolt the cpu i just set custom Watt in the setting (see photo attach file)

For exemple :

75w / 75w = 16331 Score R23 / 0.93v
90w / 90w = 17793 Score R23 / 0.96v

The power management on this Gen is awesome ...

Again i want to thank all of you ! Sorry my english..

Merci !

P1=P2 is the power target. Not quite the standard undervolting but it works too.

Where is general CORE Voltage offset in BIOS for Alder lake?

Robin, have you updated BIOS to latest?

I don't think it'll work...The i7 12700F is a locked CPU.
The only thing locked is multiplier, voltage adjustments are most likely fine. You can even overclock locked chips if your board has separate clock chip.

Robin, have you updated BIOS to latest?

Just attache file, don"t know why Asus called " Actual VRM core voltage"

Then i can choose between "MANUAL" and "OFFSET - / +)

Yes i test almost all the bios ^^, but i just see that my INTEL ME are not updated inside bios, i will update and test it

thx

How do you now know that TurboBoost works now? Can you see it in BIOS?

In R23 all core 100% the cpu clock at 3.6GHZ all core with 0.95v voltage

In game some some core seem not use but voltage near 1.10v, mean that some use Turbo Boost ? i'm right or not ?

Because you had a Z series chipset with a K series CPU, you could do that.
Intel lock everything down if you dont pay extra for those features.

Open HWinfo64 in 'sensors only' mode.

Minimise it, leave it running. Play a game, quit the game.
bring HWinfo up again, and look for the "max" values your voltages and clockspeeds reached.

Hwinfo has a *lot* of sensor readings, but heres a snip of the very top of mine to show the max CPU frequency and voltage mines ran at today (i always leave it running)
