btw, I have "never" undervolted my CPU. All I did was to disable "core performance boost" and "precision boost overdrive". The voltage is set to auto mode

Did you tried to apply at AMD to become their new CPU design lead ? Sounds like they could use your insight on how to make a functional CPU. Imagine all those zen2 servers/data center across the world doing critical work that are actually ticking bombs. yuck.
/s
If you are scared by zen 2 vanilla settings that your problem, but don't go and start to complain about your CPU not performing like it's supposed to when you are not running the stock configuration.

Imagine someone turning off Intel turbo boost and then complain that it doesn't match the performance numbers promised.

I have my 1600x since 2018 at stock settings.
During single thread stress its at ~1.43v and around 1.25v multi thread.

Not a single issue with it so idk why its bothering you 'the OP'.
Thats how it was designed to work.

I got a very strange result after benchmarking with Super Pi Mod 2.9 WP. My old Sony laptop, which powered by Intel i7-3632qm, calculates the pi digits significantly faster than my new Ryzen 3900x.. At first I think about that should related with the single core performance.. But wait, it is the older one which is getting better results.. Also that is a mobile cpu. So what do you think the reason is? Is Intel really faster than AMD in single core even it is older and even it is mobile??
the software link is here : https://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Home-Education/Super-PI.shtml
Here are the results..
You have your CPU set up incorrectly. Presently both of your CPUs are slower than my 10 year old Xeon W3680 4.1GHz (aka i7 980X)

I can imagine Jim Keller cursing off that his Zen design (and its newer derivatives) is faulty and this dude should be hired to design new CPUs for AMD.

It seems to me as if you all are beating a dead horse at this point. So, unless someone has something new and useful to say, please move along.

Well his complaint is about poor performance and it took until that last post for him to admit he was literally turning off all the performance...

This thead's theme and the storyline is so pointless that makes wanna laugh and cry all together. Its frustrating! It should be closed just for the sake of our sanity, but lets be real.
The OP made his statment about the bad performance, we all talked about his bad system configuration, and thats it... ain't gonna change anything.
The man doesnt know better and dont want to learn either. I'm out...

I think there are more than enough answers and comments that will keep the avg uninformed and potential Ryzen user(s) (who actually seek for knowledge) from believing that a 3rd gen mobile i7 is better than a 3900X

The OP choosed to lock his CPU at 3.8 Ghz, instead of using the stock configuration. Wich is why he get such results on super PI. the OP also doesn't want to run his CPU at stock settings, so there is no solution to his problem beside using an Intel CPU for his peace of mind. For what it's worth Techpowerup showed that until zen 3, Ryzen was never so hot in Super Pi.

Honestly just load Optimized Defaults, set the RAM DOCP/XMP(your RAM speed=isn’t listed) and leave it alone...Literally the easiest way for you to just make it work as intended and get at least normal performance.

What is odd about this entire thread is that no matter how you clock that AMD it is going to suck taint in SuperPi runs. A Windows update boned us all and is why many memory and motherboard reviewers stopped using it as a comparison tool.

Valid point not used it as a metric in a few generations

I would have to check the time frame in my testing results, but I went from 7ish minute 32m runs to the 11s overnight. Was fine to use before then.

Hey guys! I just had a governor installed on my car that limits the top speed to 50mph and now I can't go as fast as the other cars on the highway. They fly right by me. This is why my car sucks compared to other cars because it can't go as fast.

I now need someone that hasn't installed a governor on the same model car to see if it can go faster that 50mph or if their car sucks just like mine does.

Guys, I'm really sorry but I have made a mistake!..
I've realized now that I was using my system in "power saver" :/ It's an old habit from the time when i was using a laptop..
After switching to "high performance" mode my results become much much better. (PBO and Core Boost Still off) Just take a look at this:

Ps. Thanks for all contributors but I have to say something; I've never stop questioning but rather do my own research so that's why I've learned so much things in my life. (as I'm an engineer too) I could never say AMD is wrong or whatever but there should be nothing to stop us from questioning. Please do remember "Falsifiability" is the number one rule of science.

(as I'm an engineer too) I could never say AMD is wrong or whatever but there should be nothing to stop us for questioning. Please do remember "Falsifiability" is the number one rule of science.
Hi! Not that many do their own research but I am curious, where can I find and read your peer-reviewed journals or findings on this subject? Always interesting to read those. I am of course interested in scientific research, not opinion as you yourself say you base it on scientific facts. Which of course I assume you have plenty of regarding the voltages on modern microprocessors since you state you do your own research about it.
How many 3900X's did you go through during testing? Can't imagine it was cheap either way!

I am so happy, my Prius can beat your car.

And which one of those fine people would you be? Since I asked about yours in relation to the issues you specify. Not "insert generic research with relevant keyword". I meant this issue, specifically, by you, your own. And it being your own I would imagine you would share that without going through a paywall to request access, since it would of course have been your own paper, or at least co-author.

ps. did you really read what you just linked? I got this inkling feeling you did in fact not now that I read through some of them because it is not what I asked about and I get the feeling you just went on a google search and hoped to find something fitting.
