I’ve got this setup:

- i7-4770k + NOCTUA NH-D9L (no-name thermal paste)
- MSI Z87 MPOWER
- 20GB RAM DDR3 (2x 4GB 1.6V HYPERX PREDATOR, 2133MHz, CL11 KHX21C11T2K2/8X; 2x 8GB 1.6V HYPERX, 2133MHz, CL11, KHX21C11T1K2/16X)
- GTX 980ti 6GB MSI Gaming 6G (fabric thermal paste)
- SEASONIC G-550 Gold+
+
- CORSAIR Carbide Series 100R
- 3x 120mm (A1225M12S, NF-P12, NF-S12) 2x 140mm (NF-P14)
- 1x SSD, 1x HDD, 1x USB controller (DELOCK 4x USB 3.0), 1x wifi card (ASUS PCE-AC55BT)

All at stock clocks (cpu, ram, gpu).

Below average airflow (computer is covered behind the desk and don’t have much breathing room).

It is budget PC that I build myself from used parts, It costs me ~620$ (btw. what do You think – is it worth it for the price versus PC new from the scratch?).

And now there is a question.

How much room do I have for OC without changing PSU? Changing PSU is not an option, so I have to fit in 550W.

Now I’ve got these numbers:
FIRESTRIKE: 14 013
HEAVEN: 4 740 (D11,FHD,Custom,High,Disabled)
CINEBENCH R20 CPU: 1 737

Resolution max. FHD (DELL U2211H 22', additional ~50$).

Not really a lot to gain TBH, and without good airflow inside you stand more chance of fighting heat from higher voltages

Try using a PSU calculator such as this one from OuterVision & see how much you are getting. Those numbers should be padded already to take into account such as additional peripherals, OC, etc.

I suggest oc'ing the CPU to something more reasonable like 4.0-4.5GHz and reducing the power limit of the GPU some since it's already getting toasty at stock. Reducing the power limit can lower the voltage below stock yet still allow you to oc without it getting super hot.

Pretty much if it's not suddenly shutting off and restarting when both the CPU & GPU are fully loaded up then the PSU is doing fine.

See what the highest clock you can get on 1.3v for your processor. Should be 4.4ghz all core at minimum which helps a bit. Also nice to see another MPower user.

You’ve got better results on i7-2600k than on my i7-4770k. What 980ti version do You have?

I have one more way out. Change 980ti to 1070/1070ti/1080 and switch TDP from 250W to 150W/180W and get 80-100W more room for OC.

I’ve gently turned up RAM frequencies from 1333MHz to 2133MHz and got some better results. Those HyperX have massive high radiators, so there shouldn’t be a problem with overheating them.

Your charts says that you'd be using about 451 Watts so that is already 100 Watts leeway from your PSU to OC. But yeah, I do recommend going to GTX 1080 since you will be getting a better performing GPU that is also using less TDP. That way, you can OC your CPU, RAM & GPU at the same time. Have fun...

I want to say with the OC on my 980Ti and 4670k, it's flirting with 520W, give or take a little, but it was some time back when I had a tester connected to the system to check the power draw. I just know it was less than running my GTX 570s in SLI, but only by around 125W and they were in the 650W range. I'd really recommend a 650W to be in a comfortable position if you want to OC everything as much as you can.

Since you mention the PSU isn't changing, I'd recommend pushing the CPU OC and let the GPU run stock. You'll benefit more from pushing a 15-25% OC out of the CPU over maybe a 10% OC on the GPU.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
I'd overclock it all... you'll find out if it isn't enough... but it should be fine. You're pushing things by overclocking and the unit will likely be a bit louder since the fan will surely kick on.

That said, I agree with the sentiment that you don't have much more to gain in the first place... ;)

Those numbers should be padded already to take into account such as additional peripherals, OC, etc.
Typically in these calcs it accounts for peripherals (as in you tell it how many USB devices you have, for example). They also account for overclocking as well (as in, you tell it the voltage and clock speed and it's added in there).

The headroom is due to sub par power supplies being used as, again, most of these calcs provide lines for the extras and overclocking.

Take a look at the calc and see. ;)
