Hello everybody,
I have a issue with my i7 for a while now. The CPU itself is running great and all, but my temps when overclocking are pretty high. I was using a TRUE Black, but switched to a Noctua NH-U12P SE because I thought the HSF was the problem. Unfortunatly I am still getting the same temps.
i7 920 C0 @ 3.8Ghz
Asus P6T Deluxe
Corsair Dominator 3x1GB DDR3
Asus 4870X2
These are my temps with 3.8ghz HT off. 1.225v vCore, 1.85 PLL, 1.25v QPI and 1.64 for the RAM (8-8-8-24-1T).
Idle
Core 0: 41
Core 1: 40
Core 2: 39
Core 3: 39
Load
Core 0: 73
Core 1: 72
Core 2: 72
Core 3: 71
When I turn HT on the temps raise to atleast 80c+ which I think is way too high with these voltages. Everything is very stable when I prime. I just don't know where my problem lies. One thing is for sure, the problem isn't my HSF. I also checked the base of the i7, but it seems flat to me. I also tried to reseat the Noctua a couple of times with different thermal paste or placing it vertical... nothing really helps.
The temps with Intel's stock cooler and stock speeds are over 80c aswell. Can it be a problem with the P6T's security lock? I tried removing it for more pressure on the i7, but it's pretty hard without any tools.
I just don't know where the problem lies! Anyone can help me figuring it out?
