It's been said before in this thread by others. If you go PII you have more money to spend on a superior graphics card which would be better for gaming. However if you can pick up a Core i7 for $200 bucks go for it.

Yea from Microcenter... and Fit's board at 160$... and 80$ RAM.. That's like 450$ o_O

Hmmm... I would like comments about the rest of the build please, since I think I have everything here to make a decision...

and yes, I am very fond of the i7... btw, gtx 275 vs 4890... which one is better? I know they are very close, but ... yea... if they are TOO close to differentiate, gtx is cheaper and has PhysX and all... and folds better xD

I didn't think you needed proof:)
I have a nice system now, but I am always looking to upgrade and right now i7 is the way to go.
I guess I could say the "proof is in the pudding" ~ but I have no idea what the hell that means!

gtx275 seems to come out on top most of the time. however a 1ghz core 4890 would be pretty tempting.

I've read 90% of this post. PII is the logical choice but I highly suspect that you do have an i7 set in your mind. GO i7 AND BE DONE WITH IT! You will not regret it 100%.:slap:

Another thing to think about is heat. My PII doesn't get hot at all. My dads I7 needed water cooling to get it overclocking above 3.3ghz, otherwise it just gets over 80c, which isn't good.

Id say if he can afford an I7 with the MB and ram then he can afford the cooling for it and yes im in the go for the I7 camp.

Well, for now I am getting the s1283V... Anyhow, I am getting the D0 stepping and all... won't heat that much and my OC will probably be 3.4 ~ 3.8ghz

As I said, it is either this weekend for i7 or never...
