[WTB] IBM Thinkpad parts

Hi all,

Just been given some Ibm thinkpads and was gonna try and get them one of them going for my grandad he only needs it for browsing and thought it would be ideal for him.

Anyway im After some parts for them and with any luck someone has these lying around or a thinkpad for spares Etc.

Parts im after are :

Thinkpad T23 screen (All T20 Series thinkpad screen will fit)

The thing I like most about the Thinkpad's: If you go into the BIOS, there's an option to enable the Recovery Partition on the HDD and re-install the original OS without the need for a Recovery CD. Very handy, but only if the original HDD's are present.
Just a bit of slightly OT info for you

I'll get my Dad to look in his box of tricks, see if he's got any Thinkpad bits. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Thanks if you have any parts for think pad that would be helpfull, memory battery powerpack Etc.
This T42 i got starts up fine, Sadly keyboard has missing keys and Touchpad has crack on it but would be fine if i can get those bit's replaced.

The T20 i got just needs a new screen Inverter but that is fine everything works other then the laptop screen.

Im not to sure if these are original Hard drives or not but there is no Recovery partition on these i dont think or maybe iv im missing something as there is nothing on Bios.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the T42's came with an XP recovery partition. I have an R61 and it came with it.
Then again, it is newer than the T42. Companies started using recovery partitions shortly after Vista was released.
Again, could be wrong :laugh:

You can easily check in computer management for an ~800MB partition on the drive. That would house the recovery.

I think so, Could you Perhaps send me Pic of batterys please ?

I know for a fact the T20 screen will fit in a T40 and i think that all of T40's Thinkpad all have the same parts.

Ill Definitely be interested in the screen and Wificard though, Could you Pm me ?

Managed to get a inverter for the T23 but the screen is still blank, so now after a T23 screen (All T20 series thinkpad sreens will fit).
