Bad idea. Will turn TPU into Craigslist, with too much pointless trade, too much overhead on the staff.

Current setup is nice and small. It keeps B/S/T a place that doesn't (and shouldn't) become larger than it should, and keeps trade at a very casual level, unlike certain members' levels which is probably the closest it gets to vendors selling stuff (prohibited by our rules).

No, it's not. Plus you have to consider the pain in the butt it would be to keep track of every thread, search each one for questions, bump them all appropriately, and whatnot.

But I'm willing to give your way a go. Check back later.

no need to get so heated on this topic, it is only an idea. people are acting like they are trying to prevent it from happening like its actually going to be done.

Who's heated? It's healthy debate. I'm perfectly willing to try it his way, so I will.

i would like to see a single user B/S/T thread. if it were possible, every person who registers gets put into a sql database for B/S/T and it is in their usercp. then when you have something to sell you take the pics, add the description and upload it and it automatically posts it on the B/S/T under your username. this would clean things up and you would also be able to track bad buyers and sellers. another feature could include a WTB section. the search doesnt work to well, so instead in the usercp create a WTB with keywords of what you are looking for and you will be PM'd a list of prospects based on keywords with the sellers user info. maybe this is to ambitious but it would truly change the B/S/T game and i am willing to bet if anyone is good with AJAX they could sell it to vbulletin...

No need to take someone disagreeing with the views personally or call them (the views) "heated", as that would be immature.

That's why you can subscribe to threads. You get a nice mail when someone asks a question or posts some other useless comment.

The threads about this topic tend to start out on lets change the b/s/t thread and then 2 pages later its about it being fine and its off topic again.

Do I like our b/s/t section? No I do not.

This is the same thing as with the ATI/Nvidia section. We had so many threads on the ATI cards and separate for Nvidia we subbed that. This is no different.

When ever im browsing, i hate looking because some of the [fs] threads have wtb in them. This makes it more complicated.

Instead, i vote a FS/FT and a WTB.

If the mods are worried that it will take more time, then make someone else a mod on here that follows the rules enough and sets an example. But TPU has and is still growing and the FS section is getting to be a mess.

i look at it this way... B/S/T is only one aspect of TPU. i dont think w1zzard and other long time members here want TPU to turn into a craigslist. we dont want to attract people who just sell their stuff. instead, we want people who are knowledgeable about computer technology and want to share their ideas. if they happen to want to sell something, they have a place to do so.

XS uses the same idea but with stricter rules.

posts are LOCKED and cannot be changed and only the owner can post in it. you also need 100 posts to see the BST forum.

im not proposing those rules but they could help keep the clutter down.

I like the layout, but I'm not in favor of locking the threads. I like some conversation to be permitted. I think OCN has too many sub-forums.

heres my thing. I think TPU's B/S/T forums are the best period. no where else do you get as many hits, with divided up sections things get lost and people only see some of what your selling, with it the way it is someone could be looking to buy one thing click your thread see what else you have and buy that to. I think they should stay. thats my opinion. I'm guilty of opening up 2 threads that have the same items in it but not for added exposure but simply due to one thread got lost and I couldnt find it to edit.

I would really like to see WTB, For Sale and Trades as separate sections Having them all in one makes me not even bother looking here..

I simply go to OCN because it's easier to find stuff rather than trying to sort through one jumbled mess...

Seriously it may just be me but i completely dismiss TPU's for sale section because i don't like how it's setup..

And it's not like the same people aren't on OCN selling the same stuff that is easier to find
