IE8/Windows 7

I continue to get the Internet Explorer "Welcome to Internet Explorer" setup everytime I open IE8. Running Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit. Anyone else having this problem? And the other thing with IE8 is that when I open IE8 the window is minimized, when I close IE8 the window is maximized. I know others are having issues with the IE8 window always opening this way but havent seena solution for it. Maybe someone here can shade some light on this?

Little things that are happening with Windows 7 Pro are actually making me want to switch back to Windows Vista. I never had any of these problems. Another thing is if I change the settings for a program not to start when windows start, they still load when Windows loads. These are little things but there are so many "little things" that its actually starting to be annoying.

I just finished re-installing about 2 hours ago. Havent installed, tweaked, or changed any settings. All updates have been downloaded and installed.

Did you setup IE8 or skip it?
Just sounds like to me when you installed it a file may have corrupted.
I would try a fresh install since your just getting started with it anyway.

I've gone through the setup about 5 times now in the last few hours. The resone for the reinstall was becuase it was asking me everytime. I've run through this setup at least 30 times in the last few days. All these little problems are annoying. Never had any issues like this with Vista

Make sure when you go to reinstall that you format the drive in the OS install screen.

The solution is just what i said above.
When you just did your last install it may have wrote a corrupt file so try reinstalling again.

Its been reinstalled 3 times.

reinstalling has already been done twice with the same results.

Maybe its your harddrive then. Or a bad install disc.
Try another.

I found a solution elsewhere... For anyone else having this problem, apply this tweak.

Click START
select RUN and type gpedit.msc
Select Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates
Windows Components
Internet Explorer

There, select Prevent Performance of First Run Customized Settings. Select Enable. Then, in the drop-down menu just below that, select 'go directly to home page'. Then click APPLY and OK and exit the menu. All this takes less than a minute. You will never see the IE8 Tour pop-up again.

Did that fix the other problems you mention?
I wouldnt think so. Maybe its just user error.

Make sure to always install all your updates.

Also, Firefox FTW.

I remember trying IE 8 (I think it was a beta) and it caused all kinds of problems for me. Haven't used it since.
