If they can make it like Oblivion, but online, I might as well download myself to thier servers.

This is pure speculation.

The thing that worries me is that if Bethsoft makes an Oblivion MMO and it does really well, that they may abandon the SP-RPG in favor of the MMO cash cow.

Then don't play it, quite simple. There are plenty of single player RPG's out there for you to enjoy.

Oh really? Name one? I can only think of two free roaming RPG's. Two Worlds and Oblivion. Fact is that MMO's out number Single player 2 to 1, maybe 3 to 1.

If there are others out there, please let me know because I want to play them.

You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!!!

So, how is it not the truth?

Almost ALL RPG games are now MMO and that's the truth. I have been dieing for a good single player RPG, and it would be even better if it was turn based. Last good one was knights of the old republic, and to top it off MMO has KILLED turn based RPGS IMO.

The three Gothics were all pretty bad, Morrowind and BG/IWD ARE OLD, Sacred is an action RPG.

I think the last best turn based type of game would have to be Heroes of Might and Magic 5

lol it really doesnt matter if you think they are bad, the point is that they are single player RPG's and i named a few

HoMaM 5 is not a bad Turn based strategy, they did pretty well

There's two potential problems:

1. MMOs have always suffered the formula of wattering down visuals to increase performance.
While EQII and LOTRO made some evolutions in that regard, they're still not 'modern,' and far from 'next-gen.' Unless something drastically changes, we can expect that an Elder Scrolls MMO will not look any better than Oblivion did, and maybe not even on par with Oblivion.

2. It cannot be a port. If they take into consideration problem #1, then the hardware must also exist. This would most likely be hardware for PCs. And that's where they'd have to put their focus. There would be no room for shortcutting. Provided consoles could also boast similar hardware, then maybe they could write/code for the console platforms as well, but NOT before.

It's a nice idea, but I don't see what would be the advantage over current MMOs or some of the future ones in the works at this time. We'd expect good gameplay and the other features that are available in the Elder Scrolls games, but to expect them to be all present in a MMO version would be setting the bars particularly high.

It would be wise for Bethseda to watch and see how AOC does before they step into this genre.

Your basic argument is your personal opinion of a game (a very constructive "sucks") or the age of the game. Tell me this; what is the expiration date on a game? 6 months? A year?

Ever heard of replayability? Some games simply are that enjoyable that you can play them for over a decade, old as they may be they simply have something to offer. Look at the people who still play HoMM3, Starcraft, Transport Tycoon deluxe, Counterstrike, etc. Would you disagree with all those people just because you say the games are old?

Just would like to play something fresh......people always say there are plenty of those games, and i always point out that they are years old.

mostly after I have completed them 1 or 2 times.

Have you finished the old Lucas arts ones? The Sierra ones? They're great fun, and if you haven't played them yet they're not old by your definition. Kings quest series, spaces quest, police quest, larry, sam & max, grim fandango, monkey island, day of the tentacle, full throttle, indiana jones and something about atlantis, and games like dune, 7th guest, 11th hour.

After years they're also nice to play again. Look for the Scumm engine for example. Games like these simply aren't made anymore, that I do agree on. Graphics take over gameplay, screw graphics I'd say :)

Old isn't the problem, fresh is.

Gothic 1 and 2 sucked IMO, I never liked Baldurs gate or IWD. I beat Morrowind completely, except for a few side quests, same with oblivion, Kotor, kotor 2. There are no fresh RPGS out there.

The last kings quest was a piece of donkeyturd. Though I remember watching the intro of 6&7 on some demo disks back in the days, looked totally amazing. I seriously watched those intros countless times. Which reminds me, need to work on my time machine to go back :)

Was SpellForce any decent?

I got that free with one of my GPU bundles, never installed it. I swear I played the demo briefly a long while ago..but vaguely remember how it was.
