Is it the expected behavior that when I choose to ignore a member, I still see all their posts? Isn't the intent when ignoring someone that you no longer see their content?

EDIT: Hmmm interesting, it seems to be a break between accessing a front page article for example from the front page, shows contents from ignored members. But If I dive into the same article through the forum, it ignores as expected.

@W1zzard may be able to look into this and make a configuration change if need be. I would recommend PM-ing him if this tag doesn't get his attention.

I was under the impression when you put another member on ignore, you no longer see their content unless you manually choose to do so. But that could've been buggered a little during the migration to the new Xenforo version. Let's see what the all powerful W1z has to say and go from there!

you can see the threads they create, but theyre posts will be invisible unless you opt to "show ignored content" , hopefully you can see this post ;)
even if you search that memeber (just tried it) you would need to select t oshow ignored content, otherwise it would be empty, but wouldnt say no results found, becasue it did find results, but yo cant see them,

That's how it worked on the old Xenforo as well. I guess I should've tested it before assuming there was a post-migration issue.

Thanks for confirming!!

Perhaps my process is wrong, but it seems straight forward. I see the member who I am tired of reading their rants, I click their name (left of their post), and it brings me to their profile. In there is an "ignore member" button, which I click. However it seems to do nothing, as all posts and content still show.

Is the member by chance a newsposter or staff member?

That would be intended behavior if so, IIRC.

All you need to do is click the members name in any thread/ location ,it'll pop up their details and will also have a little tab for ignore member. Unless they're a staff member in which case you can't(unless your creative;) )

I have a couple of guys on my ignore list but when i read the TPU app, the posts appear. It's something about whether it's viewed from mobile or it won't ignore if viewed from outside the forum page.

If you know what I mean. Hope you're not ignoring me otherwise you might not see this...

Yes, that's it - when you read the front page, it won't let you ignore - it only ignores posts when you read them from inside the forum itself.

Which sucks because the front page is my #1 stop typically. I like touching into every article from there (I like the pictures :) ).

Didn't realize that, only recently started to exercise the ignore button. Only to find out it seemed broken.

So, now that we know front page article show ignored content, and the same article via the forum do not, do we consider it "by design". Or do I just start accessing everything through the forums. And no, I don't feel so strongly that I just cannot read front page articles anymore in fear of seeing ignored members, but I do ignore some by choice, so I don't have to skim it. @W1zzard

That's correct and has always been like that to keep things simple for me development wise. Is it a big deal?

That's correct and has always been like that to keep things simple for me development wise. Is it a big deal?
It's not a big deal in the grand scheme but effectively it means the 'ignore' button is sort of pointless if people like Cybrnook2002 and others read the front page for info.

No biggie.

No it's not a "big" deal by any means. Was more a learning curve and setting expectations that if someone ignores someone, there are caveats to the effectiveness of it. If it's too much to implement logic wise or even just a time suck that could be spent better elsewhere, I completely respect that. Just wanted to ask the community if I was doing something wrong, and in the process discovered the difference of front page vs forum thread.

I can just go straight to the forums, or disregard using the "ignore" feature (though it would be appreciated throughout your site :) )

Jumping in with some ignoring questions.

1. Can mods see which users have others on ignore?

2 Can a user ignore a mod ?
