One is this ViewSonic 19". It has 2ms response time, but only has 270 brightness, 1280x1024, 650:1 contrast, and .294 pixel pitch.

Then there's this Samsung. I get my 300 brightness, 1600x1200, 800:1 contrast, and .255 pixel pitch. Except this has 5ms response time, but it's also 1.1" bigger.

I'm kind of leaning towards the Samsung, but I'm not LCD guy so I figured I should ask here. It'd be awhile before I got the money for this stuff, but we all know how much fun window shopping is.:D

might be a bad time to buy a LCD, if you could wait a couple of months untill HDMI is fully implemented,

but that viewsonic is a great monitor from what i´ve seen and read.

Well it probably won't be until mid or late summer that I'll be getting one. If they're out by then and around $500 and have similar specs than that's cool with me.

Yep, I have the Viewsonic too. I can tell you, it's a GREAT monitor. I mean, if you compare this monitor to a CRT monitor for gaming, it does not dissapoint. However, only negative point that I would say is that the max res of this is 1280x1024. So, if you have some ultra high end card like x1900xtx then you should not get this. Other than that, i can find no fault with this. I swear, im using this until it breaks

kinda a major price difference, viewsonics are good monitors but you've compared it to a monitor that is larger and much more expensive kinda apples to oranges.

a better comparison.
Yeah I figured somebody would mention a kind of uneven comparrison, but really I'm considering the ViewSonic because of the 2ms response time.

2ms grey to grey and black to white, prolly still 6ms color. which is still pretty fast. how important is 1600x1200 to you though?

after 3 years on my 17lcd Viewsonic@1280*1024, i am ready for 20-27" 1600*1200, or probably the new 16:10 widescreen ones. need more on screen at once!

Pretty damn important. Especially since a 19" LCD is going to have a bigger screen than my 19" CRT. Even more so since that 20.1" is going to be about 2" bigger than my 19" CRT. I'm talking about actual viewing area here of course.
