For an 19 inch monitor with 1280x1024 max resolution that card is killer...Would easily deliver 100+ frames per second with everything maxed out...So since the eye can only see 30fps the 70+ remaining wouldnt be a waste of money ?

Now for a 22 inch monitor its a very good solution...But Chimei ?? Whats that ???

You have a good point.....but I must have great eyes because I can see 60 fps. I was simply trying to be positive, not trying to tell someone they wasted money. Besides, in another year or so newer games will bring that card to its knees. and it will only maybe top out at 60+ fps. ;) So that resolution wont be so bad with that card afterall. :toast:

I havent noticed a difference in countless games when i play above 60fps, 30 ok perhaps sometimes but above 60 no.
In a few words all of the reviewer sites ive seen recommend the 8800GTX for resolutions above 1680x1050 :)

Chimei make the LCD panels themselves - LG and dell buy them and add teh case, recently they started adding a case themselves under the CMV brand.

The human eye can easily see 72FPS - thats why the whole 75Hz thing for CRTs is all about, anything below 72 is visible to the eye, and can cause eye strain.

above 24 FPS it stops looking like a slideshow, thats why television/movies are at that framerate, and may be where you got your 30 FPS from.

And honestly guys.... try gaming at 30 FPS and then go to 100... its a night and day difference in FPS games.

Edit: oh yeah, and 16x AA makes modern games run at a nice slow framerate anyway ;)

are you sure? you do know that LG make 2/3rds of all LCD panels and tv's and then other company's house them in their own units?

i think they all buy eachothers parts. i know that both LG and Samsung basically manufactured all our major electronics the past 20 years but were sold buy sony and other top asian companies. then both LG and Samsung realized they could make money in the consumer market too.

LG gets their PANELS from Philips due to the agreement they signed on 3 years ago.

its not like ALL of the panels come from one place - chimei mostly make 19/22" widescreen panels. certain LG models and so on use their panels, but definately not all, or even most.
Chimei are taiwanese - i dont think they'd ever hit the USA In their original brand (CMV)

Anway - Easy rhino - got anything to back those claims up? it didnt look too 'lame' in the screenshots posted earlier.

Bah when I saw the screenshot where a bag was 40 RU and you had an inventory, I thought there would be an RPG feel to it. I guess I was mistaken ?

They need games like oblivion to come out, combining 2 genres more often.

i'm playing it now, however on a GTX its going to look better than anything else - widescreen at 1680x1050 w/ 4x AA looks on par with say, HL2. it does look very bland if the shaders/shadows are turned down/off however.

Yes however - now that i've played it, the story is really mish-mash. weapons are fun, multi is crap, story is crap. My main gripe is that the map is useless - the damn thing keeps pointing me off onto the wrong quests.

LOL@ that last screenshot... "Effects of radiation poisoning can be countered by using antiradiation drugs and vodka."

I had to chuckle at that :D

Heh man... you play with the same settings as me, same res as well. The graphics arent all that hot, however some things are really cool in game - when you find the telekinetic/telepathic monsters, the effects are really cool for their attack.

Oh and shadows off - the game does look a lot nicer with them on, the focus seems to be on shadows and shaders. Try turning AA off and shadows on, see if it looks better.
