In need of a 1080p, 27", Freesync Monitor

Any suggestions my friends?

I am not looking for anything expensive. As cheap as possible but not really hindering quality. Since I got a VEGA 64 now, I would like to have a freesync monitor. Why 1080p? Because I barely noticed much a difference between 1440 and 1080. And tbh, 1080p would suffice since games are getting ridiculous demanding and anything higher than 1080p will end up just screwing with performance.

At best I want to spend $300 CAD. I know it isn't a lot. But open to lots of suggestions!

$300 is quite OK.
Just check out Newegg for anything with above 120Hz refresh rate, but don't select the "Freesync" in filters.
AMD Freesync is pretty much supported by any decent monitor released in a past 2-3 years, and probably all high refresh rate gaming monitors (excl. G-sync ones).
Even my 4K samsung did not list Freesync at the time of purchase, but a few months later the "miracle" happened on the spec page.

If you step it down to 24", then you may be able to find one for under $250CAD

it is 75hz. Shouldn't I be going with 144hz?

yes it's 75Hz max, what type of games would you play on 144Hz ?

afaik, most 144Hz monitors are tn panel, and if there are ips ones, would not be cheap.

ah, ok. So the 75hz should be good? But wouldn't tearing still be a problem if the FPS is larger? Or will Freesync force it to 75?

yes i think there would be tearing outside freesync range, you'd need to cap it 75 Hz to prevent that cmiiw.

Poor Vega deserves better than 75Hz. Can easily do 1440 144Hz with a lot of stuff...

Just for the record here: did you look at 1440 @ 27 inch next to a 1080p at 27 inch? Because screen diagonal matters - a lot.

If pixels are too large, you will notice. Before you buy, sit in front of a 1080p 27 inch in your typical view distance for an hour or two, before you go this route. You may come to a different conclusion. If you have already, ignore this

Ideally you'd want to stay around 95-105 PPI (pixels per inch), to not see pixels at typical/ergonomical view distance. 1080p @ 27 inch is about 81 PPI.

I played around a lot with monitors and tv's of various resolutions. But unfortunately I do not see much of a difference tbh. Then again, maybe my eye sight is going.

I am also willing to take that into consideration (resolution) but tbh, I am short of money these days (Kids, Mortgage, etc).

If you don't really see it or at least it won't annoy you, by all means go 1080p. Easy way to save money with minimal hit. Nice way of turning a bad thing into something good

Totally the best 27 1080p for the money. Vesa mount, comes with DP cable. Even has built in speakers... they suck but they're there. I was able to clock mine to 165hz too.

Walk in to one of the stores close to you and check out the monitors on display. Just see what looks best to you. As far as I'm concerned 144Hz is overrated. On my 3440X1440 monitor I can't see any difference at all between 75 and 100.
