In need of a good file splitter and "joiner"

I have a 4.9 GB image I want to split it and burn it to 2 DVD for data storage not use, so when I would need it I would join the files after copying both to pc and mount the iso...please reply ASAP...

Wouldn't a dual layer dvd be better? 8gb on 1 dvd instead of 2? Your LG shows it supports DVD DL which is a dual layer

Linux: using command: split -b 3G big.iso part
Windows: use WinRar and split compress or use PowerIso and make split .daa files

I can't really find dual layer, IS Winrar my only choice, well I want to do this many times and most of them are no iso..

Winrar is a good option if you want a paid product.
7zip is the freeware version of winrar.

I'm going to agree with everyone before me that said just use a dual layer DVD.

i will say winrar or 7zip else everyone else, but a Dual-layer DVD shouldn't be that hard to find or have i been sleeping while dvd discs has gone away? ^^;

i used a couple of DL discs in my life but mostly been normal DVD-R/+R even RW's.

Hwsplit does also a fine job of splitting files
