In Win, a known luxurious case manufacturer has launched a super tower case titled the 928. The case costs $999 and is made out of premium and high-quality materials such as aluminium and tempered glass. In Win positions this case with the aim to "Present PC's Power" using its spacious interior. For a price of almost 1000 USD, the case is made with looks first and functionality second.

The 928 is made out of three distinct pieces: an aluminium shell and two tempered glass side panels. The aluminium shell is anodized in black and is 4 mm thick. Being over 125 liters in size, the case is perfect for any oversized watercooling build and is compatible with 14' x 14', EEB, E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboard form factors. Of course, it doesn't lack RGB support - the front In Win logo is RGB illuminated, but that can be turned off if you so prefer. This case is made for extreme workstations that use Intel's Xeon W-3175X CPU, thus using ultra wide EEB motherboards like ASUS ROG Dominus Extreme.

Case specifications:
  • Eight expansion slots
  • VGA Card Length: 480 mm (Maximum)
  • VGA Card Length: 335 mm (with GPU Holder)
  • VGA Card Width: 190 mm (Maximum)
  • Vertical Display VGA Card Thickness: 80 mm (Maximum)
  • CPU Heatsink Height: 185 mm (Maximum)
  • Front IO ports: USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C x 1, USB 3.0 x 2, HD Audio
  • Two 3.5 inch and six 2.5 inch drive bays
  • Air Cooling: Six 140 mm Top Fans, Three 140 mm Front Fans, and Three 140 mm Rear Fans
  • Maximum Radiator thickness of 45 mm
  • Supports up to Two Power Supplies, Length up to 250 mm (Including Cable Management Area)
  • Dimensions(H x W x D ): 571 x 335 x 656 mm

For those interested, the case goes for sale on May 16th on In Win's US-only online store. No details yet on availability in other regions.

At $1000 I'd have said...Haha! no way.

But at $999...Looks like a bargain.

I think InWin has gone a bit too far with the cases. 928 is just too... busy.
Suppose that is a matter of taste though, I liked their H-Frame and absolutely adore the good old 909.

Lucky it's not designed by Porsche, their last 928 was more egg shaped.

"premium and high-quality materials such as Aluminum and Tempered Glass"

These are not really high quality materials now-a-days. Arent all cases made from these materials.

While I wouldn't call them "premium" due to the plethora of cases with those materials, cheap cases are still made from thin steel and Perspex.

Tempered glass - kind of, starting with midrange cases. Aluminum is common only in (very) expensive cases.

Not really. Alu cases (like tru alu) are very rare, even Lian-Li is making today cheapo stainless steel with a tiny bit of alu.

Alu is really expensive, especially if its 4 mm thick (Lian-Li used to use 2 mm or 1,5 mm).

Tempered glass is sorta norm, but again, not cheap either. A lot of those "glass" cases is just glass, or plastic, unless really specified as tempered glass.

Its nice case, even tho a bit expensive one.

the question begs is what grade of aluminium they are using in order to consider as "high quality"? Tempered glass isn't "high quality" unless; again, is what kind of mixture they are using + the substrate they add into the mix. $999 is overkill for this kind of casing IMO. The Obsidian 1000D is a better offering since there isn't much super towers that can fit two complete systems into a single chassis without adding more complex design into the chassis.

Price of this case - similarly to prices of many cases in the same class - have little to do with manufacturing costs and materials. They are (ultra) high end cases where you pay for the design and reputation. Tempered glass is not that expensive and is used starting cases in $50-60 range, to get an aluminum case on the other hand you generally need to spend $200 or more.

yeeowza....$1k for a pc case :kookoo: :fear: o_O.... so NOT happening.....aluminum is not THAT expensive, and neither is TG to justify that price, titanium maybe, OTOH...the same case made with 304/316 grade stainless steel case, yes, I would gladly pay $1k for that.....

My TT900 has THREE big, heavy slabs of 5mm TG, can hold way more fans, and has an extremely heavy duty and well made frame, and I only paid $169 for it......

Having said that, I do like that this case features an excellent number of fan placements, 2 psu's, and, FINALLY, a USB-C port on the front I/O panel (yes I know they are not the 1st, but only 1 in a few doing so right now).... at least they got these parts right

As the ultra rich 1% gets faster richer than the rest of the humanity, and 1% of world population is a lot of richies to entertain with flashy thingies, special crazy expensive products must be created for them. Same reason lies behind why crazy exclusive cars of dead brands are back on the market... And many of these customers are not living in "western countries", but in the East and Far East.

It's Aluminum supposed to make the case better?
Last time I had an aluminum case I hated it.
Every single spot that was threaded for screws stripped out.
I'd take an aluminum case for free... Not paying for another one ever again.

I built my SO a whole computer for $620. This case is ridiculous. Even if you're into boutique SFF cases or all-tempered glass monstrosities, spending over $300 is just stupid. Unless you're stinking rich, of course. But even then, I'd rather buy a $300 and spend $700 on expensive booze or drugs or rent a tiger or something. Wasteful at all levels.

Really depends how its made. Lian-Li cases (at least one I have) definitely never had such issues. But then my Lian-Li has internals in stainless steel, while outside panels are thick alu. Most of their cases (if not all of their alu) works same.

Alu makes case lighter, also its kinda neat when its brushed.

Unsure if 4mm thick alu makes case lighter tho. But its probably due those bend shapes.

Another F'd up design from Inwin, closed front, and three fans on the rear, and no visible ports from the Motherboard.
This thing is a very expensive dust magnet if those rear fans are exhausts.
