Installing Win7 64 Bit... it wants drivers!

Should work with your install DVD. No need to make an ISO. i don't think.

No mucking around really, for me the install worked without a hitch in IDE mode, I then just copied and pasted the registry command, re-booted changing to ACHI mode in Bios and was into windows again without a hitch.... I only did it this way though because I too was having issues installing in ACHI.

This has to be the chipset drivers. I had a similar issue with Win 7 x64 with my Asus mobo, I eventually managed to find the proper drivers.

If my memory serves me well, it's asking you to install the drivers for the SATA - Harddrive where you plan on installing the OS onto. In my case it was the RAID 0 drivers off the AMD controller which I needed. Anyhow ACHI mode seems to be a common problem now adays.

Problem Solved - Bad Disc

Thanks for TheLaughingMan for suggesting the USB tool, I found the problem accidentally. I took the disc to my primary machine and couldn't make an ISO due to disc errors. Tried copying the disc and got CRC errors.

So I think Win7 stumbled when trying to install and since it couldn't read the disc, was prompting for DVD/CD drivers.

Just need to get a new disc now, bummer.

In the meantime you can download an .iso for the version of Windows you have and install off USB ;)
