It not that they're worse perse, just that the improvements to not justify a full generational jump.
I am still plunking along on my 12-year XPS 730x PC. I hope the 11th Gen pricing-drop will also drive the 10th Gen pricing down or what's left over for sale. Love to have a 10-core and a Z490 board at way down and lower pricing. But it's wishful thinking perhaps.

The downside of the unlocked Intel 11 gen cpu's is the cost of the Z590 boards. There's a few cheap Z590 Asrock boards in the $150 - $170 range but they don't look like anything I'd trust to OC with.

There's really no point to getting an unlocked chip or a z series... The B560 chip now OC's ram and allows you to disable turbo caps, and there doesnt seem to be any headroom left on the chips for a daily driver build.

An 11700 and b560 or older Z490 boards would probably be the way to go. If you're in the "I want to spend $600 on a chip and $200 on a motherboard price range then the 5900x is the way to go every time". I would go for the 11900K if it was $350 and could pair well with a $160 board, but otherwise no way. The 6 core unlocked don't make any sense from a board perspective.

I do like that people are hating on intel though there are some sweet deals to be had.

That 10900F @ $350 with turbo limits removed is bonkers.

We hate intel because their company ethics sucks and that they imbody everything that is wrong with capitalism. AMD might not be 1 cent better, but intel by far outnumbers AMD in uncovered shady bussiness schemes

Politics or not, Intel is the one with anti-competitive practices up the ass and also the one who decided to not make anything new for 5 years straight. The backlash they get is deserved.

You know what they need? To get rid of most people at the top and put the engineers who are actually competent in charge.

Indeed, the spiritual competitor of 5600x is 11600k, but tests show again that 11400f without 65w power limit achieves same gaming performance with it being 100+ cheaper. I played rdr2 a bit already and even in Saint Denis with highest cpu load it doesn’t go above 100w. I’m much less impressed with rx 6800xt though which is a nightmare to tweak for lower power consumption and it seems to exhibit strange performance drops and low gpu usage all of a sudden. Beginning to miss my trusty gtx1080 that never had such issues.
I think you pointed out the main problem with a lower end model with similar specs. Essentially the 11400 and the 11500 pretty much negates the need for the 11600K for most people. While Intel seems to have a winner with the 11400 and 11500, they lose out on sale of higher margin parts. In addition, it really depends on what resolution one is gaming on. The lower the resolution/ graphical settings, the greater the dependency on the CPU. In cases where it is CPU bound, the slower clockspeed on these budget chips will take a toll on performance.

By the way, which RX 6800 XT are you using? I don't play RDR2, but I don't experience performance drops in the games I play with my Sapphire RX 6800 XT Nitro+ even after undervolting it.

If poors could afford the 5800X they wouldn't be gaming @ 1080P.

Well, even from game tests the stock 11600k and OCed 11600k are couple percent from each other. Which is the reason why it’s not worth over 11400 yet again, if the clocks don’t improve anything much. Anyways, I think one should either wait till alder and next zen or just get 11400(f) for now if main usage case is gamin. Nothing above nei on intel nor amd side adds a tangible difference even with high-end cards like 3080/6800xt.

I’m using since last week the reference Midnight Black edition of 6800xt. I’ve noticed that drops seem to happen if I use Vulkan. It was easy to test as I spotted a place in Rhodes where my gpu utilization falls lower than 50% all of a sudden without no apparent reason. I switched a few times between DX12 and Vulkan and it was always reproducible. DX12 runs with no such issues. Was weird because on my gtx 1080 I never had a single problem with Vulkan in this game. Now trying to undervolt a bit.

Yeah, because so many people changed cpus on am4. Oh and what a premium platform that has usb issues, very premium. 11th will keep performing and won’t suddenly stop in 1 year. People that bought into b550 or even b450 should be felt sorry for as well, following your logic as it’ll be dead in one year. So much fanboy nonsense in one post.

At least they can and have the option to and they get an upgrade unlike the 11th gen....USB Issues wasnt on the B450/X470 FYI and those issues where later addressed on the B550/X570's Via a BIOS update awhile back. B450/B550 launched years ago (3yrs for the B450) so I cant see how you think they will be dead if they have already been around longer then a yr? you need to get your facts straight before commenting with this bunch of BS :kookoo: So much butt hurt in one post

bios bug is the proof is new processor , with a lot of news

yes a powerfull 16 core with 3 year old motherboard , without wifi 6 , ethernet 2.5 , pci 4 , usb 20 g ...with no more bios for bug ...

compare Z390 disponibility and X370 X470 ..... i have 1600X and the only motherboard i can find is B450 stage 2 with nothing inside ....

You do know that the current Gen CPU's use pretty much the same power draw as the older ones right? so running these on a 3yr old (not old really) Mobo isnt an issue at all. Wifi 6? no one cares, shouldnt be using Wifi anyway. 2.5 Ethernet? who cares? it be nice to have but 1GB is fine for 99% of people. PCI 4, are you really going to mention PCIE 4? Like come on honestly, do some home work FFS! and like I said above USB Issues wasnt a thing on B450/X470.

Your last comment I have no clue what your on about, you all got your head in the sand thats for sure, research before commenting, saves you both looking like fools!

yeah, good luck upgrading to an obsolete tech later. And calm down your pants boy, you talk some nonsense contradicting yourself and then whine about being refuted.

Gosh, you're such a toxic crybaby. Keep dreaming about upgrades to old tech when everyone will move to new stuff by then. I'll be moving to Alder or zen4 when it comes and not even ponder about upgrades on older platforms. If that minor performance benefit on top end of amd lineup that makes no difference outside of synthetic benchmarks keeps you calm at night - then be it. G'day to you.

I'm going to guess that you're from western Europe.
Im from northern Europe but my location has nothing to do with my statement. Abiding to the laws (in us, eu (and generally the world)), to earn more money is; wrong (Also within capitalism). You would think this no matter where you are from if you believe in the future of capitalism (or anything else) Capitalism is doomed in its current usage; It is unsustainable from a market point of view: Companies are streching the fabric of capitalism to its limits. In other words: i'd rather stay sceptical and support the less known evil until better alternative/information arrives.

The heck do you mean by "older" platforms? Are you one of those millennials, gen Y/Z who has to have the latest & greatest in Apple well because it's Apple :wtf:
I'll be moving to Alder or zen4 when it comes and not even ponder about upgrades on older platforms.

I just bought a 2700 (non X) because it was cheap & good fit for my budget about a year back, so take your own advice & don't preach to others
Keep dreaming about upgrades to old tech when everyone will move to new stuff by then.
I very much intend to move to a 5800x-5900x towards the end of next year or whenever they get much cheaper than the currently overinflated prices! I bought a relatively overkill board just for this reason.

:roll:Clearly im not the crybaby here thats for sure! How about you grow up and actually fill in your system specs so we know what your running at the moment? or are you to afraid to do so? Ive come across many that have a hissy fit when shot down and faced with facts and then find out there a employee of intels and have a horrible based intel system that was dead within 8months (7th Gen) Something tells me your another one of these? Older platform? you do realise that AM4 is current platform? or did you miss the memo on that the past 4yrs? I will be jumping from a 2700X to most likely a 5900X when I feel the need to do so and its not going to be a minor upgrade as you think it will be :slap: The butt hurt is strong with this one!

Playing devil's advocate here, anecdotal "I've never had these problems" or "My friend updated his BIOS and it was all fixed" don't prove anything in regards to whether AMD's USB issues have been genuinely fixed or not. And if you were not denying their existence, then your system's experience is utterly pointless to mention unless you WERE denying the issues were a problem and wanted to wash your hands of any objective true/false statement.

IF only Intel had 10nm out in 2016 AMD wouldnt be competitive either, hypothetically. If ands and buts are as useful as tissue apper armor. The fact is that AMD's 5600x is dramatically overpriced for the performance it offers, and that gives Intel an advantage in the low end market. As it stands AMD has abandoned the budget market and intel's 10th gen i9 have little to worry about.
If amds abondoend the budge hardware then why is ryzen 3000 ryzen 2000 and ryzen (i think) 1000 still under production
the prices ryzen 2000 and 100 are going for are amazing
