I just bought this drive last week for $129.99 @ the egg for my laptop Dell D620. My old drive was acting really bad.. Around 38mb write, and 40mb read.. This drives specs are 35mb write and 170mb read. I used Atto to test speeds, and tested around 44mb write, and 135mb read! I've been very pleased with the drive so far, no studdering! and this drive does support trim! I've read that some have reached 220mb burst read in desktops.

It installed windows 7 32bit in 11 minutes! If you buy be sure to download firmware update. I forgot, and was able to update firmware after OS install and did not lose anything, but there is a slim chance you will. Also, download the Intel SSD tool.

i would get this in stead ocz vertex only a bit more expensive but up to 230 read and 135 write speeds seems much better performancewise

I started to buy that drive, but I needed the extra space in my laptop. The only way I would buy that drive would be to buy 2 for RAID 0 for my desktop. Once you format the drive you're only looking at 27gbz at best.

look at the write speeds. its total shit. i was all in for getting a few but i saw that and it was over.

i hate these low end ssds that make ide drives look fast. why do they even make them?

true, i just can't see spending so much loot on an ssd that writes slower than an average 5400rpm hdd... sure the access time is nice, and i have a large collection of ssd's running from top of the line x25's to a g.skill mlc 64gig drive taht only reads 155, and writes up to 90 and that is just barely cutting over a normal hardrive imho.. those specs on that thing are dismal.. my seagate 5400rpm 500gig drive in my asus g71 notebook actually reads and right faster than it and is hundreds of gigs larger.

I don't know Fitseries3 that drive doesn't support trim.. At first it will be fast but after a few months it will slow down. But I'll take your word for it as you are the hardware king

I am going to copy what I said in another thread,

What is the obsession with writes? All I ever hear is that write speeds are low, who cares? You are talking about 40GB drive, you aren't installing much... Read (both sequential and random) and random write are the important things. Sequential writes are only used in installing programs, and so the only time it matters is when you reinstall your OS. 90% of the time all you are going to be doing is reading and random writes. And random write speeds suck on mechanical HDD's and most SSD's except the Intel drives.

This is directed at no one. I just didn't feel like reconveying the point conveyed in this quote.
