Why not get a new one from retail + buy the $25 (when I bought it for mine a year ago) Intel Performance Plan so you have RMA coverage from overclocking? I guess unless you're planning on delidding?
Well there are cheaper on the forums if you can fin them. I Miss 2 BNIB 4770k that where listed for $240.00-$245.00. And just 2 days ago I lost on a 4930K that was listed for $315.00.

I'd rather have the better warranty myself, and what about if the chip needs RMA'd even outside of OC-related failures?
If you're planning to delid, then I could see saving a few bucks. That or maybe work with the original owner and get the OC protected RMA coverage...it's worth every penny of $25.
A good deal is until something fails. Though I gotta say it'd be nice to pick up a BNIB 4770k for that price. That's $100 less than I payed a year ago when they launched. I have 0 regrets though.

You would be fine with a non-K 4770 if that is the case then. I don't overclock cpu's (gpus are another story though
) as I don't have the need to anymore and I find the non-k 4770 in my main rig to be awesome. HT really helps out for my work. The non-K 4770 is also quite a bit cheaper than the k model.

I do overclock, and I've never had a CPU die, I did however, have a crappy clocker that Intel RMA'd for me because of that performance tuning plan.
Makes no sense to get a K version if you're not overclocking...that's the only reason to get the K variety that I'm aware of. Good luck with your search, I hope you find the right chip at the right price!
