I know I have a wide choice in terms of memory selection. As with any overclocking build, I want to take advantage of memory subsystem and DDR4 to the best of my ability.
Ideally what I am after are the tightest possible timings at the highest possible frequency. Specifically, I want to target the mid 30 ns range running the AIDA64 memory latency benchmark.
So far, from the research I've done I should be aiming for something like 4500Mhz on the memory with timings of something like: 17-15-15-32.. Does that sound about right?
Can anyone recommend a decent 16GB kit that is up to the task? Preferably without RBG lighting.
While we are on the subject, what is the best board one can buy for the 8086k in terms of overclock ability?
I take it I should delid the processor for best results? I'd prefer to stick with air cooling with this build, what's about the highest clock speed I can expect to run with air cooling?
I will be happy at 5.0Ghz, 24/7... is this feasible?
Also, how does the 8086K respond to NB overclocking? What is my target on that? is 4.5Ghz possible?
This build is going to be a dark horse theme so I want to avoid flashy RGB lighting and keep it stealth as much as possible.
