Wonder the about the cost.
It wont be like that it seems

Looks like there are rumors for almost a year for AlderLake with its hybrid big.Little architecture

They blurred it out to not ID the person or company the processor went to.

I recall posts saying PCIE Gen 5 would only be for data center, but a few articles recently say it is coming with Alder Lake. The notebookcheck article, in particular, even states PCIE5 lanes are in Alder Lake P.

I haven't seen any PCIE5 devices listed by Intel other than some Agilex FPGAs and their Ponte Vecchio GPU.

Anyone have opinions on why they are bringing PCIE5 to a desktop chip?
Does this hint that their discrete client GPUs will support PCIE5?
Could PCIE5/CXL be used between CPUs as a replacement for UPI on desktop?
Going by old Intel Product ETA timelines, Intel was originally trying to get PCIe 5.0 out this year to leapfrog AMD's push towards PCIe 4.0. That didn't happen, so Intel then tried for PCIe 4.0 to catch up to AMD. That didn't happen again, being unable to get PCIe 4.0 out and being left with PCIe 3.0. Hence the small bit of advertisement debate over NVIDIA's GPUs putting PCIe 4.0 on the box and how many non-tech-savvy gamers would panic buy AMD just to have PCIe 4.0 capability. It seems like Intel gave up on trying to to catch up with PCIe 4.0, and is trying to beat AMD to PCIe 5.0 in 2021.

AMD's own Product ETA timeline put PCIe 5.0 out in 2021-2022, supposedly coinciding with Zen 4 on TSMC 5nm Q4 2021 or Q1 2022. If Zen 4 is not due out until 2022, Intel will have about a year's lead on AMD in that regard, although AMD can always prioritize PCIe 5.0 for EPYC first, then trickle it down to general desktop. It's quite possible AMD could put out an AM4+ or even an early AM5 socket even if Zen 4 isn't ready; just using refined versions of the Zen 3 set up for the new socket, just with PCIe 5.0 compatibility and DDR5 compatibility. AMD's chiplet process makes it easier for them to just update the I/O dies and pinouts for such. I don't think it'll happen, but AMD has been a lot more resourceful with half-step upgrades considering the older AM2 -> AM2+ and AM3 -> AM3+ in order to keep pace where necessary. If anything, the only thing from AMD that might see PCIe 5.0 early would be EPYC, given that particular market competition.

10nm intel Adler Lake will finaly 'show' it,i mean how 'good' or 'bad' amd ryzen 7nm cpu really are when competition use almost same core size.
Uh, the nm figure is just marketing. In reality, 14nm Intel yields 24x24nm transistors, 7nm TSMC 22x22nm transistor.
There is a difference, but it is not even remotely as big as it sounds.

And I'll go with 8 solid cores, instead of 4+4 Frankenstein (at least on desktop) thank you very much. Given that we are in 10-20 hours of battery life area with notebooks, I wonder why even bother with "little cores".

All i know is that Intel still competes with 7nm Amd chips with its 14nm++ chips.
If Intel makes a move to 10nm things can turn around for amd.

But

Intel is struggling with its 11th gen yet they talk about 12th gen already. Kind of sarcasm.

ddr5 ? Which reminds me people were talking that 11th gen or zen 3 might support both ddr4 and ddr5. Is that supposingly true ?

If its like 8+4 or 8+8? Would you think about it?

Intel is struggling with its 11th gen yet they talk about 12th gen already. Kind of sarcasm.
Some say that 11th gen will be a mix of 14nm + 10nm.
14nm for the low/middle parts and a mix of 10+14nm for the higher/flagship ones. With 1~2Qs launches in between them. And if I understand it correctly it will be mix of sockets too. LGA1200 + LGA1700
This may be the only way for Intel to meet "demand" for high clocks and high corecounts the next year before ZEN4 arrives on Q4 2021/Q1 2022, and be able to offer something better exclusively on 10 or 7nm later next year.

ddr5 ? Which reminds me people were talking that 11th gen or zen 3 might support both ddr4 and ddr5. Is that supposingly true ?
Unlikely the dual capable memory controller. I assume, too complex and expensive.

Last Dec I finally upgraded my old gaming box to a core i9 9900 KF new board and memory and power supply. EVerything else was just fine 1070TI's in sli ssd m.2. It was a major upgrade from my old Core i7 3770k on the old Sabertooth P67 Motherboard. I went with another TUF gaming board cpu and kingston hyper X memory combo. The Core i7 3770k I had for a long time the first CPU in that board was a 2600K. Still have it as a work computer which I'm typing on now. Now yes there is threadripper and massive chips that perform much faster than the i9 I bought, But I'm not looking for performance vs stable. I really could care less if I get an extra 10 fps or 20 fps in a game with an AMD setup. Or how fast I can ray trace. The one and only thing I care about is stable and can it last for 10 years without issue. I once owned AMD computers yes they were fast oh the benchmarks was nice spanked intel everywhere but for stable not so much. If I game sometimes I play long times for raids or quests etc or doom I played once 7 hours straight. I found AMD is great performance but would crash more times than my Intel's. I have friends I play with on discord and during raids there AMD crashed my intel would just keep going and going. So ya when I was young AMD was just fine. I did not mind having to play around with bios settings to changing configurations all the time to get something to work correctly on AMD. But as I got older I got tired of fixing all this BS. I work in IT all day fixing AMD, HP, Brocade, Dlink, Dell, Networks and PC's. When I come home I just want stable and works I do not want to have to play anymore around with settings to make something work. I have a intel core i5 laptop now 3 years stable as a rock, My old Intel laptop was 10 years old core 2 duo. I have a server still working today its 20 years old Intel Pentium 4. New gaming desktop and old gaming desktop now a 3 montior work machine. So ya I might upgrade my work machine later in couple of years but it work fine now being my old gaming computer with 660TI's in SLI. AMD is fun but not as stable vs Intel is stable but not much fun.

I jizzed a bit. This is 3 arch above Skylake, which AMD is "slightly" faster in an AMD-provided gaming slide.

Unlike the CPU on the left, the one on the right appears to have a number of it's contact pads linked, presumably as the little and big cores share functionality.

Probably the same memory controller as well? If not we'll see how crazy Intel is in just winning the mindshare for desktops, because this thing sure as hell isn't beating the 5950x in MT workloads with the possible exception of some AVX512 workloads!

It still wont beat a Threadripper footprint
It won't even beat a 5950x, also if it's only DDR5 then the adoption will be slow & painful. DDR5 isn't getting anywhere close to the recent low levels of DDR4 anytime soon!

Oh god, please. Stop linking that nonsense. I remember his first video, the guy still didn't shave or clean up his room. Its a nobody you're taking your cues from. For me its a fast track to being irrelevant.

Note the flag on the video too. Nuff said... its a whole subculture, this alternate internet reality people desire to live in, along with alt-right and a myriad of other lost cases. I'm staying FAR away. I hope the coming election puts a quick halt to that movement. Its unhealthy... as evident by the reluctance of same group to get serious about numerous things for example covid - 217k deaths and rising in the US, and no end in sight. That's the calibre of people you're taking your cues from here.

If you have half a brain you can see the parallel between all of these dimwits.

Check this out. This is clear unshaven eternal student material. Nothing more...

He didn't call himself MLID at the time. And for some reason all of these fools are like fingernails on a chalkboard to listen to. To each his own... All they do is scour the internet all day looking for a new angle to get subs, having learned what buttons to push to get all the sheep to clickyclick. Always 'exposing' the next turd nobody really needs to care about.

MLID, if you're reading this, go do something with your life - get over your fear of leaving that dank room of yours. I know you're reading this, seeing the above video ;)

All I know, and pay some attention too, is that what said by some of these people months ago about leaks and upcoming tech are 80% accurate and the rest 20% close.
I really do not care, not by 0.1%, about their personal preferences. I'v learned to screen info from other stuff.

Broken clocks are also right twice a day. Good that you don't care, now stop linking that junk. If we want it, we'll find it... All it really is, is 4chan leaking out into the real world and its not a good thing.

I really don't like this trend of pushing the mainstream segment into the HEDT territory. Pushing beyond 100W and more PCIe lanes is already driving up the costs of the mainstream platforms. I would much rather prefer if they kept the mainstream <100W and ~8 cores, and then lowered the entry for HEDT platforms instead. 8, 12 and 16 core models, unleashed with 200W TDP, lots of PCIe lanes etc., would be very interesting to power users.

Anyone who pays a little attention can probably do qualified guesses and be more right than wrong with technology predictions.

I like the still of the first video - Intel's last chance

pffffffffff and a lol

Did the video maker look at Intel's quarterly profits since zen has been out, they are still growing despite zen's success and 'shortages' and etc. etc. Intel could probably cease consumer cpu sales and still easily out-profit AMD. It's not their last chance and they are not going anywhere. (and I have an AMD cpu/gpu)

There we go...:shadedshu:

Sometimes people seem to be surprized by a fancy title (video or article).
Everybody knows, even the dirt... that Intel is not depending only on Desktop, high-end PCs or even server market. Yes we know its an Empire. Hey, I've got an Intel part on my AMD system and my smartphone... I'm surprized!!
He know it too. But apparently there are always someone who likes to interpret anything as he likes.
But because they are not depending on the consumer market does not mean that they dont want to be hurry to have something to show to the market. Otherwise they wouldnt come up with the hybrid idea of 8+8cores (big.little arch). They could wait a couple of years for their 7nm parts.
But they dont... they want to have something competitive in 2021. And it might work, even if it is wierd and monstrous, superglued or whatever.
Thats what those videos was all about. But you can keep reading and explain titles, stare the tree and miss the forest...

Remembering when Intel was mocking AMD for "glued" ZEN1 architecture and now Intel is trying to glue things all the way to the max.
I really hope they succeed for the competition to go on.
