The upcoming Intel Core i7-11700K "Rocket Lake-S" desktop processor showed up on European Retailer Mindfactory.de as a pre-order, listed at 469€ (including VAT). This is a huge step up from the retailer's current selling price of the i7-10700K "Comet Lake-S" of 317.50€, although roughly in line with its launch price. The i7-11700K is an 8-core/16-thread processor, which steps up performance over the previous-gen using the updated "Cypress Cove" CPU cores that come with increased IPC. The processor features a maximum Turbo Boost Max 3.0 frequency of 5.00 GHz, and 16 MB of shared L3 cache. The chip is differentiated from the top-dog Core i9-11900K only by frequency, with the flagship chip featuring max boost frequency of 5.10 GHz, along with the Thermal Velocity Boost feature. The Core i7-11700K comes in a simple paperboard box that lacks an included cooling solution.

10700K RCP is $374.00 - $384.00. They have been on sale for less than that for a while now.
That 469€ is more likely a preorder price, higher than it ends up being just to make sure retailer does not lose money.

Bought my new unused 10700k a little before Xmas from someone that one that won it in a contest for Nearly 60% of the new price and very satisfied about the performance compared to my older 8700k which was a great processor by the way...i don't see the need to upgrade for another 2 or 3 years...

I don't see why they have to do that. To them, whatever they sell, they earn. No reason why they want to promote a specific brand or company.

I am not sure if it is a preorder price. Given the current hardware shortage, and higher cost of production, its possible that Intel will want to release their products at a higher price. Especially when they see that despite the higher prices of Zen 3 chips, I believe AMD is still selling most of their chips that they manage to get from TSMC.

I was being snarky. It keeps making the news here, but Mindfactory DE is an irrelevant speck that's been raised to the rang of trendsetter when quoting sales figures for certain CPUs. I guess that could be construed into a reason as to why, if you're really interested in one.

Hi,
Previous releases wise doubt we'll see much drop seeing covid/ tariffs... are in play lucky if it's 5-10% either way
Just because some site throws up a pre-order doesn't mean it's going to happen way too much fake news

10900k 10 core 420.us last I saw we'll say 480.us for good measure it's what I got mine for off micro center.
7900-9900x 10 core 1000.us
10900x 10 core 500.us

7980-9980xe- nearly 2k.us
11980xe 800.us last I saw we'll say 900.us for good measure.

And Mindfactory is selling goods cheaper than other German webshops.

If that price holds true, I was right about Intel dropping prices.
10700K was $374. That is 308 EUR, 371 including 20% Vat. How is this a price drop?

Mindfactory DE is an irrelevant speck
Mindfactory DE is a major German retailer that sells hardware in droves. E.g. about 14k of 5600x alone.

It also happens to be the site which is open about its sales statistics.

The problem it seems, is in some users who feel lower back pain seeing how AMD products wipe the floor with Intel's in part of the market where shady practices in regards to OEMs do not work.

Luckily for Intel, OEMs control lion's share of the market.

AMD's revenue was 3.244 BILLION for Q4 2020 and 9.763 BILLION for 2020. That's three-point-two-four-four. You think 14,000 units of their cheapest current gen CPUs made a ding in that? It's MILLIONS vs. BILLIONS. Mindfactory DE is around the second decimal for all the AMD CPUs they ever sold. The second decimal for just one single quarter. How is that significant?

The reason Mindfactory DE is in the news so often is because they are one of the very few retailers that sometimes give pretty graphs with their sales. Not because it's relevant on a global scale.

Saw that too. Not sure which to believe, those prices in USD are about the same as the prices in Euros, but normally US prices are about 15-20% lower. Actually they will cost more than in Europe, since US prices do not include state sales tax.

Maybe time to get a 10700K.

Does buying a current Gen CPU make sense when current Gen GPUs to take advantage of them are unavailable?

Are you suggesting the data Mindfactory publishes is in fact not representative?

No, it is. Mindfactory's data is representative of Mindfactory's sales. And that's about it. It says so in the bottom right corner of their graphs.

I hope you enjoyed the short period Intel was reasonable and a good deal, with Comet Lake discounts. Just as I expected, the moment they think they have a competitive product again (Rocket lake) Intel is being ... Intel.
5800X price is ridiculous, and Intel is going to be even more ridiculous with 11700K...

Nobody knows what the pricing will be in the US until those Rocket Lake chips hit Amazon and Newegg.
