Better how>? Speed? System Longevity?

One glaring problem is the 4670K in a H87 board, unless the mobo supports OC?

My thoughts exactly. The k-branded chip is in an H87. Will it be overclockable very much? Seems like overkill then.

In general though, the 2nd system has the newer motherboard and cpu, and I would presume then, that it has a better chance at longevity/reliability. I know that's mot always so, but it generally holds true.

I would def go with the first build if it saves money, P67 is still a good board and allows OCing when the H87 will not

If you don't plan to game on your PC then you don't need a video card as both the CPUs have integrated graphics. If I were going to keep this PC a long time I guess I would go with the first system and overclock the CPU if needed and possibly sell the video card but you did mention "sale value" and if that's really important then the second system would probably be a little easier to sell years from now with the i5 4670k CPU but as said by others you can't overclock with that mobo.

The 4670K, is a very nice CPU. The H87 board, as opposed to the Z87 board, is the only limiting factor. It is a decent board, as long as it is an ATX, not Micro-ATX, and should last you a good amount of time. In time you could either sell the 4670K, for good ching or, upgrade the MB to overclock and thus future proof it even more.

Get the Haswell.

I just did a brief check on the mobo in the first PC and I'm not sure if the mobo has any connector for the monitor. Neither VGA nor DVI output but in any case it comes with a card and you said you have another card in your other thread.

P67 does not have a video setup to use the IGP in the CPU. Only H series and Z68/Z77

Well if from the given 2 choices I would go with the second system.
you said:
I need it for personal use not for gaming.
The Core i5-4670K is newer and has better on board graphics that is enough for everyday use.
The Core i5-2500K is older but still good but still the second system is better and will be better if you decide to upgrade in the future.

I have spare Navida 6200 , don't know if its any good.
6200 really isn't good at all anymore. I'd take the second one, read somewhere that the integrated graphics on 4670k can do pretty well, especially if you're not gaming.
Since the CPU and mobo don't match exactly I'd say you should get either A. Z87 chipset mobo or B. non-K series CPU with a H87 mobo, which will probably cost you less.

2-nd better but its without discrete GPU, so if you add some gtx 760/770 - would be very "hot".

you should get the 4670k with a z77 mobo or better yet get a 4770(non k) and an H81 motherboard, because if you need to ask what is better than you most likely dont know how to overclock and also swap that gtx460 with some thing modern (gtx 750,750 ti,760).

Well, if he's not going to be gaming the 4670k should be perfectly adequate for his video needs, as it's a fairly capable igpu for standard stuff, so he won't need a video card.

It's clear that you're not interested in gaming but what do you mean by "for personal use"? Tell us exactly what you will be doing with this PC. If it's only surfing the web, emails and watching videos then both PCs are overkill. Also to get the best possible advice tell us the country you live in and your budget and even better give us a link to where you are finding these PCs for sale and the guys here can quickly pick you out a PC that will meet your needs for years at the best possible price.

I am from UK, I will be using pc for Visual Studio software development, photo editing and personal use like watching movies and internet.

My Budget is around £300 and i am looking on www.ebay.co.uk

If someone can find me a decent pc with at least window 7 pro and i5 2500 or plus then it would be great.

I can get hold of branded pc like dell or HP with intel i5 2500 with 8 GB RAM on around £250 but after have discussion with people on forums, i think it is better to go for custom build pc.

Hi. I didn't know you were browsing ebay for a computer and with that budget. I doubt anyone will search ebay for a PC for you. I checked the system requirements for Visual Studio and you can get by with a lot less than a i5 2500. Also it does call for a basic DX9 card so that has to fit in your budget too. These are the minimum requirements I found.

1.6 GHz or faster processor
  • 1 GB of RAM (1.5 GB if running on a virtual machine)

  • 10 GB of available hard disk space

  • 600 MB of available hard disk space (language pack)

  • 5400 RPM hard drive

  • DirectX 9-capable video card running at 1024 x 768 or higher display resolution
Obviously this is bare minimum and a PC with higher specs will run it faster.
If you can still get the first PC you posted for £300 with Win 7 Pro then that's probably the best you're going to see. I poked around a bit on ebay.co.uk and didn't see anything even that good.
