most likely DDR3, as the specification page still put memory type as DDR3 1333/1600

This isn't a new processor with the same core, this is the same exact processor, with the old 1150 socket.

This is a strange move. Either Intel found a stash of these somewhere and is trying to get rid of them, or there is some kind of demand for older processors. Maybe a demand is coming from China or India, where there are "bootleg" H81 boards showing up and they need processors to put in them to make low end computers.

This processors still would work just fine in an office/work computer. You don't really need more than 2c/2t for that type of work.

Pretty obvious that Intel are bringing it back for embedded systems since they need 14nm capacity for the higher-end SKUs. IPC and core count matters a lot less for embedded.

The #1 rule in embedded is power efficiency, which this fails hard at.

I actually made a review of Ivy Bridge Pentium back in 2013, here in TPU. Seeing as both chips are 22 nm, use same DDR3 and have a similar clock speed, care to take a look what old games will you be able to play on a dual core chip with a GTX 570 (hahaha):

No, I don't agree with it. But nor does that make this front page worthy.

As an aside, he hasn't so much admitted failure as admitted a few years of difficulties. Intel could run at a loss for quite some time, pretty much, and be just fine. This isn't like Intel is just conceeding defeat, they are betting on a longer term plan and hoping it works.
