my bet is that they're simply not releasing extreme models with unlocked multipliers on the mainstream platform.

Hell, the rate that hardware and software is being cracked at these days I'm not the least bit worried. If someone wants to overclock badly enough they'll find a way. Think about it, even Dell and Gateway computers with locked bios can be changed in windows. And there's always modded bios too.
Don't worry. Intel DOESN'T have the smartest people working for them, the smartest people are pushing thier products to the very limits of their performance.

btw the only high end cpu's with unlocked multiplayers wil be Bloomfield
from 2,80ghz to like 3,20ghz or higher

Same can also be said with the old days of P3 when they locked multipliers. Alot of people went AMD, even though it took a little work in the process to unlock the multipliers.

seriously, as i said i think this is merely going to be a lack of extreme models.

Intel dont support overclocking NOW unless its extreme - FSB raising voids your warranty!

someone saw that intel wont support overclocking on the mainstream chipset, and misinterpreted.

mentioning that your still running on an old p4 platform doesn't make it any more likely that they will support oc'ing...

they lose money when consumers overclock lol, and the fact that your running on a decade old pc makes them very sad
