Intel X48 Chipset overheating?

Hi, I got issues with my southbridge heatsink getting wayy hotter than I am able to even touch it without burning my fingers, any ideas what I should do?

My cpu fans air runs easily through the heatsink.

Standard ATX Dell XPS 430 mobo.

Yeah I am overclocked, but even when at stock speeds it gets pretty hot, and I begin to worry about how much longer it will survive those high temps.

they can take a lot of heat I believe intel used to tell people 100c was ok but I would never let any piece of hardware I owned get that hot

You're going to need a better heatsink on the chipset. That motherboard is as basic as it gets for that chipset. It does run hot at stock, but within limits. It is not meant to be overclocked the way it is.

*After looking at the picture, placing a fan directly on top of the heatsink will help alot.

Oh well, I am 3 - 4 months away from buying my new pc so I hope it will stay alive for atleast 5 months more.
