Is 2x XFX 7990's in (effectively quad) crossfire for gaming a good idea now?

Still having the fps issue. I have no idea why. I flashed and updated the BIOS, reinstalled windows, games, drivers (current, older and beta) with every modern 2013-2014 game from origin not using the gpu's. I've even taken out my second 7990. This is a pain! Thought I'd solved it earlier. It seams that was simply a one off event. No response from Amd, EA games etc.

Are you sure the second 7990 is working correctly?

Yes. They work with any other game not from my origin DCL. Even the same games that friends have "found" on the net work. Initially I put this down to their being earlier versions than the latter. They worked a few times on either card but then reverted back to not being used after a restart. Both cards work every time with steam games even in crossfire or quadfire, if you will. They also work on my physical games Actually they do work with pre 2013 games from origin DCL.

I've also ran a 3d mark 11 demo, scoring 24156 (I think) a few times with no issues. And I play driving games (Assetto Cora, Dirt 3, grid autosport etc) and fp shooters on steam for hours and hours with the cards in quadfire with no issues of them not being used. Apart from Assetto Corsa (pre-alpha) which isn't optimized yet and simply runs on one core. I've not tried that yet with one card. The question of them not working is not their issue.
