Is 650W Enough

Ok originally i planned on getting a 750W PSU for my build listed under my system specs but now due to budget reasons I'm looking at cheaper alternatives. Viewing my system specs, would a 650W PSU be enough to power my rig.

Also because this isn't in the specs

I have about 8x HDDs
3x140mm Fans
2x 120mm Fans
Fan controller
12v Pump

And i love to OC like a mad man

A bit off topic, but how is your XFX RX480 GTR?
Did you do some benchmarking yet?
How does it perform and how are the temps?
Are you happy with it?

650W is more than sufficient plenty of headroom but not overkill.

It won't arrive until Wednesday as Monday is a Holiday

I have used http://www.bequiet.com/en/psucalculator

Your xeon wasn't in the list, I picked the i7 990x instead.
Included overclocking the wattage was 523Watt

So a 650W PSU should be good enough according to this site, if you don't plan to buy another RX480 that is.

for a normal gaming rig, 650W is plentiful assuming you don't OC & you have a potent single GPU to handle all gaming tasks. the number of HDD is kinda worrisome though...

if you OC 24/7, your wattage range should be 850-1kW with 80+Gold & higher efficiency to ensure stability.

500w will be plenty even with a hefty o/c

edit. my heavily o/c ed Xeon system with HD 7970 uses 299w playing GTA which uses 65-75 % of cpu and 100% gpu

Johnnyguru is where i suggest looking at for those units, now the earthwatts are good for everyday use but id be a little wary of overclocking with them.

Look at my rig specs. If you can find my psu as a 650W unit Id go for it.

CPU is being cooled by water with a 360mm radiator and the HDDs have 2x 140s blowing directly on them

I like the EVGA 650 GQ had very good reviews in pc per and jonnyguru, not too expensive and a semi passive mode (up to 40% usage the fan is off). Using it and so far it works great.

A 500w, 30 amp PSU is recommended for total system power for a 480, so 650w is easily enough, even with the minor addons.

"Radeon RX 480 - 30A and a 500W PSU minimum"
