Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
well, mine never did and probably down to the homogene rig configuration i had ...
literally 0 crashes as i mentioned ;)

i know i am usually lucky ... but not to this point

ah, i did a rig for my 2 nephew, one has a 4060Ti 8gb and the other has a RX 7600 8gb (5700X and 3600 respectively ) stability wise : same same, tho the NV equipped one had 1 CTD during playtesting, requiring a driver rollback, while the AMD one did not crash, using the same games, namely Starfield to cite one and both at 1620p sufficient to say, neither card where up to the task, tho 1440p was smoother ;) but perf wise, not better than the RX 6700 XT 12gb

AMD driver issues is a thing of the past.

If you need something RN, get the 4070 (base model or the Super variant), price/performance/feature wise that is. This is especially true for QHD gaming.

However, since the new GPU architectures from the NAI are just around the corner, I'd definitely wait for them to arrive then decide on the purchase! Things like 5060/Ti/Super, 8700 XT and B770 (not official naming) for example. I mean, it's not like you're on a 1060! I'm sure the 3060 that you've got, most certainly has another year under its belt!

Note: NAI stands for Nvidia Amd Intel.

@gasolin
Unless you are planning to push 500 frames in CS or whatever, your 5600 will be more than adequate for this tier of GPU.
And no, buying a 5950X is not a smart play for playing games. You will see little to no benefit. If you really must, the only sane option is the 5800X3D. Period.
Just… forget what that site tells you, it’s patently bullshit.

5700X3D offers better bang for the buck. I don't know about Danish pricing, but at least here in Finland it's noticeably cheaper.

Sadly there isn't many reviews of it.

Every card is an invidual sample, so you can never be sure.

5700 or 5800X3D would make sense for his next upgrade after this upgrade. This entire thread is boils down to "why are these cards so expensive, I can't afford the card I want"

:( just want something that mach my cpu min rx 7700 or rtx 4070

what you want is something that gives you the performance you want for what you are willing to spend, in your earlier posts it did not seem any of the games you played were all that demanding so the video cards mentioned all did that.

Fair question, to be honest, we’ve all been wondering the same these past few years, lol. But not in this context, yeah.

That's exactly why we don't like it. Both those cards you listed are on par performance wise with a 2020 era RTX 3080 so that website claiming that a 5600 is going to significantly bottleneck it is a joke.

Techpowerups CPU review of a 5600 with a RTX 4090 (4090 is about 70% faster than the 2 cards you're looking at, it's intentionally trying to bottleneck the 5600) didn't even hit a bottleneck on average till the 170FPS mark for 1440p.

Exactly. Most of these potential "bottleneck" scenarios aren't realistic in the average situation. EX: Playing an old Esports title on a 360hz monitor or playing modern games on low/medium settings.

Totally missed that when I was googling for reviews, damn, if you don't use an OSD overlay with a FPS counter, you probably even can't tell that is there a 5700X3D or 5800X3D running the game. :toast:

Is 8gb enough for games in 1440p in 2024
You should be fine given the 3060 you've got. However, soon enough you'll need a better GPU for newer games. Some games are already pushing beyond the 8GB ceiling.

4060 ti 8gb is like 70 euros cheaper than the 16gb ti
The 16GB version of the 4060ti is a great sweetspot card for 1440p. Save up a bit more and spend the extra for the greater amount of VRAM. You'll thank yourself later. However, the 4070 is a great sweetspot card currently as well.

My 2 cents. Sorry if I've repeated what's been stated earlier, TL:DR.

Is 8gb enough for games in 1440p in 2024 ?

I play my games at 1440p high refresh with my 8GB 2070 Super, I play my games without issues.

It just depends on the games and settings you play.

If you want to play the latest and greatest @ Ultra settings, then 8GB vram will probably not be enough.

A rx 7700 xt is somewhat cheaper than a rx 7800 xt that has 16gb vram instead of 12gb vram

Wil the difference be noticeable if i had a 7700 xt and upgraded to a 7800x ?

Would i notice the increased¨, let's say up to 20 fps higher fps or increased graphics (whats equal to 20fps)

Is 20 fps increase noticeable ? Is the "20 fps" increase in higher graphics be noticeable

I imagine you need a certain not very optimized game and atleast a rx 7800 xt or 7900 gr or rx 6950 xt to play games at +100 fps at high settings at 1440p to use +12 gb vram ?

So a rx 7770 xt with 12 gb vram is still okay performance vs vram since it still isn't powerful enough to use more than 12gb vram in modern games at 1440p with high settings + 100 fps

17 fps

Framerate is relative. It’s actually a terrible metric that just stuck around due to how simple it is for laymen. But the actual important one is frametime, which framerate is derived from.
What am I on about? Well. You asked if 20 FPS difference is significant. And it depends. If you go from 40 to 60 it is quite noticeable. If you go from 140 to 160 - it’s almost irrelevant. And the reason for it is that in the first case the actual difference in frametime is almost 10 ms. In second - it’s less than 1.

Try this on any random card and you'll get results. Amazing, the internet, isn't it :)

I had a rx 6700 xt that wasn't as stable as my rtx 3060

@gasolin

I only looked at max fps, im not shure how min fps is 7700 xt vs 7800 x but i can have a look

13 fps (makes no huge difference since fps are well beyond 60 fps in 1440p), so 7700 xt is a better buy if i also buy a powercolor hellhound do to extreme low noise (best cooler of all, super low noise an low temps ??)

Avg 85 fps it doesn't take much to get min 100 fps in all games, if my cpu is up to the task (medium or high setting in most games moderne games)

I am not sure what even the quandary is. Are you asking us or telling us? Because you’ve gotten an actual definitive answer to your question a while ago.

To sum up: yes, your CPU will be fine and there is no rush to upgrade. Yes, both the 7700XT and the 4070 are good cards that will easily play whatever you currently want with respectable performance. The 4070 is somewhat faster, but if the 7700XT is a significantly better deal where you are there is absolutely no shame in going for it. No, the Radeon drivers won’t burn down your house and kill your dog.

c a t

Theres a 70 euro or close to 20% difference between a rx 7700 xt and a rx 7800 xt in Denmark, of course depending on what you compare cheap 7800 xt vs expensive 7700 xt the price could be the same
