you should be ok but it dont give you much wiggle room, me myself would go for a 650w or above for peice of mind its better to have too much and not need it.

I wouldn't touch the masterwatt series for a build like yours even I do use the masterwatt series at work but that's for replacement in older tower machines and so on and not powerful machines.

Go with a better quality PSU because you need to remember it needs to deliever solid power and be stable because it's the one thing people attent to skip on and choose something low quality.

But to be honest I would personally go with a SeaSonic Focus Gold series at least 650watt and if you have the money their Prime series.

I mainly only use SeaSonic myself they are a well known brand and they build their PSU's from the ground up themselfs.

I have a Prime Platinum 1200W in my main rig and my XP build have a SSP-300SFG that's a 300W 80Plus Gold SFF.

It could work yeah but it will be really tight....Also it's known that sometimes GPU can draw more power over their max TDP even if you are not OC they can have those power draw instant spikes in certain moments +if your PSU is not new or not that quality you could be in trouble.....

In that case sure you can definitely try it,might just work totally fine....also you can maybe undervolt your GPU a bit a save few V there....Good Luck

Not enough information! How many and what size case fans? How many and what type drives? How many sticks of RAM?

If I add a SSD, a hard drive, a DVD drive, 3 x 140mm case fans, a couple USB 3.0 devices, the load can easily jump over 500W. If you go with an alternative cooling solution for the CPU, you could be pushing 525W or more.

That sounds like a bad idea to me. While the odds are in your favor nothing permanent will happen if you overstress the PSU and the computer crashes, something could happen. The OS could become corrupted. Or worse, the PSU could fail catastrophically  :twitch: and damage everything connected to it! :(

I'm with xtreemchaos on this one. I recommend getting a quality 650W. Just save that 550W for a spare. I do NOT recommend getting a used PSU from Craigslist, eBay or anyplace, unless I personally knew the previous owner and the history of that PSU.

The PSU is simply too critical to take chances. Would you spend good money buying a brand new Porsche then fill it up with fuel from the corner Tobacco and Bait shop?

Yeah, overnight somebody bought the 3900x so I’ll just go with the 3600 I was originally going to do

Well I'm running a 1080ti, 3700x, a bunch of drives etc on a good 550W unit without issues so you should be fine

And you feel that changes the numbers in the equation that significantly? I don't.

The 550W may be barely adequate to get you going while you await the arrival of a decent 650W. But I sure would not rely on that PSU for long. It is not just about sufficient power, but quality too.

FTW, I prefer Seasonic or EVGA Gold.

Do not cheap out on the power supply. If I was building a desktop I would never in my right mind would cheap out on the power supply. I usually buy everything used or cheap but never would buy a used power supply, that is the thing that is powering everything.
I'm a laptop person, I bought all my memory and SSDs used and even HDs when I had them, but when my laptop's power supply went bad, I bought a new one from MSI.
