Is AIO pump whine today as bad as it was 5+ years ago?

In the past I've used an H80i, H100i and 980 Ti Hybrid, all of them experienced constant pump whine noise. Is that still a thing, and if so can something be done to prevent or reduce it?

I've been considering an AIO again for aesthetic purposes, but if the pump whine is as bad as it was in the past then I might reconsider...

It's a small pump physically limited by it's size. Physics hasn't changed in the past 5 years, so no.

i had three H150i PRO XTs one older Asetek one and two Kraken X73s.

none of them were audible even with an open case. maybe when you put your head into your PC...

Still not worth it.
they have a limited lifespan, they can still leak (i had two broken AIOs out of 6... one leak one dead pump)
the cooling is not much better than air cooling and worse as soon as the liquid temperature increases after a couple minutes of load.

The Asetek and CoolIt ones do IME, but I haven’t tried the other options (Arctic LFII, EK, think the Galahad?, probably some others).

Depends on orientation, going on two years with Enermax Liqmax lll ARGB 360 ,no issues at all.

I've bought two AIOs, both Corsair, and they're still alive. They don't get much use these days though since I practically live off the laptop.

I’m just guessing here but probably around 30-40K.. I don’t actually know. I used mine until it couldn’t cool my x5690, about 3.5-4 years. I then gave it to my brother for his 7700K and it barely held it at stock. I think he used it for a year like that before he bought a DRP4. I have the unit here, not much left in her though, but it’s not empty.

I have a Neptune 480 that ran perfect for 7 years with about 6.5 years run time. The only reason I replaced it was that performance was on the decline from evaporation.

5-6 Years is not a huge problem. but any AIO has a "Date of death" out of the box due to permeation, pump failures, leakage etc.

Also really depends on the CPU. Any modern quad core puts out almost no heat.. but stick a 6 core or something capable of 300w (my x5690) and you should start to see performance taper off within a year.

the CLCs that still use the asetek pump as pretty much the same.

however coolermater, swiftek, EKWB, and alpha cooling have AIOs that use other pumps; some in the rad/res while (the coolermaster) have a pump inline. some use a dcc-lt pump (smaller version of a DCC) that are a lot quieter/efficient. though many of the mentioned barnds are also expandable w/quick disconnects if you want to add a rad/block; the DCC-LT pumps can handle that.
