Is Antec True Power Trio PSU a good one?

I am looking for some Quiet, reliable, long lasting and stable PSU. Frys has a sale on the PSU.

Should I get it.

No extreme gaming, basic web-surfing machine with occasional photo and video editing. Will be used to power a X2 3800 +on board video and 2GB ram machine.

I have the Ultra Fly Micro ATX case with Ultra's default 400W PSU (that I bought for my bro). Its seems stable but feels flimsy. Don't know if it will live long. So I pulled it out and replaced a CoolerMaster Extreme PSU. It is stable but noisy. So I am going to keep the CM and buy a new one for my bro.

$15 AR at Frys.

For that price its a really nice psu. If you were about to buy same price from the 'egg, I would say there are better deals.

But since the rebate is good and deeply discounted, I say go for it!

Well, I have no problem with my Antec but its an Earthwatts 500. But really, sometimes you cant go by NewEgg's feedback. As far as "dying soon" goes though, it can happen with motherboards video cards, pretty much any part with a computer. Although, I do understand as well, a dying psu can kill everything.

The PSU is pretty good for the price. You just have to make sure that everything is right for the PSU. Most People don't get the reason why a PSU is the most important thing to any build. And with that, they just take for granted it ability. I say going here and seeing if everything he has will take that. I would also add around 75 to 100w to the amount you get with the calculator so your at a good reasoning on how long you keep the PSU.
Another way is to look at the box Watts of each part, and see if it's enough.

He is going to use onboard video. But I just put a 1600 pro for calculation purposes and added all other things that will be used and max it comes to 244W at 90% load. So I think should be fine.

sorry about the late answer, but as jr said, seasonic is the original equipment manufacturer for the true power trio series. i checked the link for the ul file number, which was a little blurry but i could make out most of it, i cross referenced with the psu guide (which also said that the TPT series is seasonic built, and gave the ul number) and i ran the ul number and it pulled up seasonic's ul file so yeah.

seasonic brand psu's are some of the most expensive psu's on the market, and aren't really that different from say, pp&c, corsair, or newer antec psu's, which are made by the same company, meaning same quality, just different reference designs given to seasonic to build. i would grab any seasonic built psu thats made by a good brand, i really despise antec's RMA & customer support, and they've been a GIANT PAIN IN THE ASS to say the least. i never wanna deal with antec support again.. and would rather buy from a different seasonic built psu brand.. but thats just me.

Got the PSU. Its somewhat heavy. So I guess good quality PSU. Hopefully it should work fine.
