Hi all, I was guessing if I can still use my old DFI LP JR 790GX-M3H5 with a RX580 crossfire setup.
The 790gx chipset is a bit old but supplies two pcie gen2 at 8x...have I to expect some issues with modern crossfire which one does not use the bridge cable anymore?
Thanks

I dont think it would work because the board still uses the old bios, not UEFI. Theres no saying if one RX580 would even work because of this.

On a side note. unless youre farming bitcoin dual RX580s will be severely bottlenecked with any CPU you put in there.

Hi and that is exactly my intention...to reuse an old system crossfire capable to make some tries with.
But...I read of some people being using rx480 in an old 790fx/790gx setup so wanted to be sure before buying...
About the cpu...I was planning to put a phenom II x6 @ 2.8 ghz (95 watt tdp) ...I was almost sure it could do the job as there are many setups around that use celerons.
So you say that it would not be worth right?

you dont need crossfire for bitcoin mining. More importantly, you will need a good PSU to power the system

Nice to hear :) ...have found a very practical discussion about btc mining...either the s9 miner is no more remunerable...either no solar panel investment is worth it...to tell at the end...if you are a hw manufacterer you can get some $$$ from this "business" but for the home user there is no gain.
