Is it possible to delid an ATI Mobility 9000 GPU?

I'm restoring some retro laptops and the ATI Mobility 9000 graphics chip has a tiny heat spreader. Is the die soldered to this or is it possible to delid it? Anyone have a dead one and willing to try on?
