Is it possible to flash the bios of a "non fake" video card with a "fake" video card?

Hi everyone, some time ago I bought a video card on a website, thinking it was a gtx 960 4 gb ram unfortunately, but I discovered later that it was a "fake" video card and I would like to know if it is possible to flash the bios of a "not fake" video card on this video card that I bought at the time (if it were also the bios of a gtx 450/550 it would be more than good for what I have to do)

Cooling AORUS Liquid 240
Memory 32GB Teamgroup 3200mhz
Video Card(s) EVGA 2060 GTX
Looks like faulty memory, in that instance bin the card
They frequently use memory chips with different CAS latency, or faulty chips downclocked to run correctly. One of the ones I "bought" to test had a similar issue, artifacts if ran at stock 902mhz, but worked perfect if it was clocked at the 700mhz it shipped with.

That's why I've tried to modify the original BIOS for some of them.

since I could not flash with the program I decided to use an eeprom programmer and I used some of the firmware of the asus and dell nvidia that were in the links posted above ... but every time I flash the video card with these bios the result is what you see in the picture ... does anyone have any idea how I can fix it?

Try the one I posted here for a 550ti.

these files that are in your post are in txt format ... what should I do?
At the time it was posted, posting .rom on a forum wasn't allowed. Don't edit the contents, just rename the file extension from .txt to .rom . You can use a DOS command prompt to do it if you can't view the extensions in windows. "ren filename.txt filename.rom"

I also tried with the bios that were posted in the post linked above but they did not work, thinking I did something wrong I proceeded to flash the original bios of which I had made a copy ... and that works without problems.

do you have any suggestions for me?

Post the original to this thread, I'll see if there's anything that can be done with it.

Try this. Device ID changed to GT450, RAM changed to 1024MB.

the firmware flashed well this time ... but windows still sees the card as a "GTX 960" the only thing that has changed is that at startup it says Nvidia GTX 450 instead of Nvidia GTX 960 and also GPU-Z the sees as "GTX 960 Fake"

Have you uninstalled the hacked drivers that originally came with that card? It is showing as 1gb in your gpu-z instead of 4GB. Odd that the device id still shows 10DE-1401. I opened the file and checked it, I am certain it is changed to 10DE-0DC4

I'm not at home now ... as soon as I can I do the test you suggested (in fact I didn't think about uninstalling the drivers supplied with the card

I did as I was suggested ... that is to uninstall the "fake" drivers and then install the original nvidia gts450 drivers ... unfortunately the installer says that the hardware (the video card) is not recognized

what do you suggest me to do?

Hi everyone, I wanted to inform you that I finally managed to flash the original firmware of the video card

after removing the heatsink to flash the card I said to myself "let's look for the initials written on the graphics chip (GPU)" the initials are: pfu251 and this initials led me to a post on this forum regarding ina "fake gtx 1050"

this is the link of the post: https: //www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/fake-gtx1050.252221/

I flashed (exactly like the user of the post) the 1gb gts450 bios and in the end this card was seen as a gtx 550 ti (even if the bios is of a gts450)

I hope this information will be useful to anyone who has a fake gtx960 or gtx 1050 card with that "pfu251" graphics chip

to demonstrate this, place the screenshot of gpu-z

Ok well you now have a igp replacement. Next time stick to Reputable Brands Such as Asus, Gainward please.

Stop buying these generic looking cards
